The Strokes - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Strokes are an American rock band that rose to fame in the early 2000s as a leading group in the garage rock revival.
Subsequently, The Strokes became the subject of enormous hype, causing a great divide amongst rock fans, albeit mostly hipsters and independent magazines.
Comedian/actor David Cross has long been friends with The Strokes, and makes an appearance in their video for "Juicebox" as an obnoxious radio DJ not unlike the type he mocks in his comedy routine.

Stroke - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In ischemic stroke, which occurs in approximately 85-90% of strokes, a blood vessel becomes occluded and the blood supply to part of the brain is totally or partially blocked.
As ischemic stroke is due to a thrombus (blood clot) occluding a cerebral artery, a patient is given antiplatelet medication (aspirin, clopidogrel, dipyridamole), or anticoagulant medication (warfarin), dependent on the cause, when this type of stroke has been found.
Stroke rehabilitation is the process by which patients with disabling strokes undergo treatment to help them return to normal life as much as possible by regaining and relearning the skills of everyday living.

In fact, the Strokes are a New York City band through and through; like the Velvet Underground, these are a bunch of uptown artsy types elegantly slumming downtown to the tried and tested themes of sex, drugs, and rock & roll.
The Strokes are a fairly unique band it seems, often having distinctive traits like a subtle effect applied to the vocals, electronic drum beats, and making their guitars sound like they do in the beginning of "Someday" (no other band that I know of has guitars that sound like that).
While it may be said that perhaps the music of the Strokes does not seem as heavily focused on so much as the image they portray to the media and in their publicity, they are a band that delivers.

Their singer/songwriter, the fantastically named Julian Casablancas, delivers his lyrics with a weary nonchalance that belies his age on songs such as the title track, "Soma", "Hard to Explain" and the altogether wonderful "Barely Legal", while the band recall the likes of Television and the Stooges on "NYC Cops", "Last Night" and "The Modern Age".
Within a week of listening to them, the strokes became my favorite band, as a group they are very unique in their style and their sound.

Hey, The Strokes may smack of the '70s, but the styles they cop are timeless and eternally relevant -- and they're damn good at those styles -- so their sound doesn't feel the least bit dated.
The group formed in 2000 after most of its members dropped out of various New York-area colleges, and almost immediately created a major buzz on the strength of their live performances and their electric three-song demo, This Modern Age, which got picked up and released as an EP by Rough Trade Records in early 2001.
