The Romanian Bridgehead ((The property of being smooth and shiny) Polish Przedmoście rumuńskie) was an area in South-Eastern Poland, nowadays located in (A republic in southeastern Europe; formerly a European soviet; the center of the original Russian state which came into existence in the ninth century) Ukraine.
Rydz-Śmigły predicted that the rough terrain, valleys, Stryj and (additional info and facts about Dniestr) Dniestr rivers, hills and swamps would provide natural lines of defences against the German (additional info and facts about blitzkrieg) blitzkrieg.
The area was also home to many munitions depots (that were prepared for the third wave of Polish troops) and was strongly linked to ports in Romania ((additional info and facts about Constanca) Constanca), which could be used to resupply the Polish troops.
