		Townsend next appeared as a 17th-century court jester in "The Venice Project" (1999), Robert Dornhelm's time-travelling comedy-drama set against the backdrop of the Biennale that was screened at the Venice Film Festival mere months after filming where it was met with a less than stellar reception.
		Although Townsend was replaced by Viggo Mortensen in the cast of the highly anticipated "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy, his proven talent would assure the young actor a career trajectory that continued this upward climb.
