The plateau is the home of the European Suslik (Spermophilus citellus).The burrows of these ground squirrels were everywhere, On route back to the hotel we see a Short-toed Eagle.
Our lunch stop is at the Studens Kladenets dam where we see three Common Buzzards, a Kingfisher and a Cirl Bunting, but only have a glimpse of a Griffon Vulture, a speck on the horizon.
Some have a swim in the lake; it is beautifully warm and refreshing.
