The Youth Caucus was formed in December 2004 at Peace Action's national organizer’s meeting to create a youth-driven task force focused on engaging the leadership and involvement of young adult and student activists in the larger peace movement.
In the fall of 1995, a national Student Peace Action Network (SPAN) was initiated to bring the voices of young activists into the forefront of the peace movement.
While the Student Environmental Action Coalition has built an enormous base of student environmental activists and The Center for Campus Organizing serves as an effective clearinghouse for resources for activists, there was no national network for student Peace and Justice organizing.

The Kinesiology Student Association had requested $425 in travel funds for the Illinois Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance, but was turned down because its application was late and no members were represented at Friday's meeting.
After the initial motion for $902 failed, an amended motion to give SEAC $500 was passed on a 5-4 vote with three of the senators abstaining.
The student government constitution states that all meetings are to be conducted under "Robert's Rules of Order." Those rules, used by most governmental bodies, state that an abstention does not have an effect on the outcome of a vote.
