Stupor - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Stupor is a common condition which presents itself in response to or during emergency medical services.
Stupor is not the same thing as a coma or a vegetative state.
For example, some people who become injured suddenly with a concussion or some other cognitive impairment resulting from injury enter a stupor, where they are partially aware of their surroundings, or they become unconscious until they are revived by themselves or by others.

Stupor and Coma: Merck Manual Home Edition
Stupor (hypersomnia) is an excessively long or deep sleeplike state from which a person can be awakened only briefly by vigorous stimulation, such as repeated shaking, loud calling, pinching, or sticking with a pin.
Other causes of stupor or coma include the sudden stopping of the heart's pumping (cardiac arrest), aneurysms, severe lung disorders, inhalation of carbon monoxide, stroke, seizures, an underactive thyroid gland (hypothyroidism), liver or kidney failure, and low or high body temperature (hypothermia or hyperthermia).
A person who becomes stuporous or comatose must be taken to the hospital immediately because either state may be caused by a life-threatening disorder.

Catatonia - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Stupor is a motionless, apathetic state in which one is oblivious or does not react to external stimuli.
The usual treatment is to prescribe first-line antipsychotics (such as risperdal and haloperidol), although benzodiazepines are occasionally used (for catatonic excitement more commonly than for catatonic stupor).
In Pier Paolo Pasolini's 1968 film, Teorema, the daughter of a bourgeois Milanese family goes into a catatonic stupor after being seduced and abandoned by a mysterious stranger.

 Gag Reflex
Stupor is a 70-minute theater piece in which 10 young men and women enact a series of sexually charged encounters that move from decorous courtship to unhappy, even deadly conclusions.
Along the way, the cast members come together in mixed- or single-gender groups of two or three; strip down to dance trunks and tops; stroke/poke/hit one another (usually in the general direction of the crotch); and make a few random grimaces and noises.
In contrast, New Paradise Lab actors attempt a unified physical style, but the results are primitive: So far their best trick is exceptional gag-reflex control (during the course of the show several members seem to fellate objects including playing cards, a stocking and a broom handle).

Further putative examples of endozepine stupor will require exhaustive and sophisticated toxicological analysis for benzodiazepines before they can be accepted as evidence for the existence of this syndrome.
Endozepine stupor (ES) is characterized by repeated, spontaneous stuporous attacks lasting several hours or days, and responsiveness to flumazenil without administration of benzodiazepine.
Although differential diagnosis of stupor is a common problem in emergency or neurology department,[3] immunoenzymatic assays to detect benzodiazepines are reported to give false-negatives as well as false- positive1.

This stupor will involve most things associated with the standard stupor, but will also include many things that have never even been imagined by the most creative minds of this, or any other time.
In this stupor, I will: drool, babble, walk in circles, speak to trees, love everyone, hate everyone, then love everyone again, sing, churn butter, drive somewhere really fast, repeat myself endlessly, speak louder with each drink, repeat myself, go cross-eyed, have sexual relations with fat women, repeat myself, and pass out.
However, this is also irrelevant due to the fact that the stupor has made me not only unaware of danger, but at the same time impervious to it.

 Coma - NeurologyChannel
There are various other terms, in addition to coma and vegetative state, that are used to describe varying levels of unconsciousness and a person's ability to respond to stimuli.
These include stupor, in which a person is unconscious but will eventually respond to repeated, vigorous stimulation; and obtundation and lethargy, which are used to describe a person who is not entirely unconscious but does not respond to stimuli.
Usually, coma and other altered states of unconsciousness are considered neurological emergencies, and actions need to be taken quickly to avoid permanent damage.

Narcotics are addictive drugs that reduce the user's perception of pain and induce euphoria (a feeling of exaggerated and unrealistic well-being).
The English word narcotic is derived from the Greek narkotikos, which means "numbing" or "deadening." Although the term can refer to any drug that deadens sensation or produces stupor, it is commonly applied to the opioids—that is, to all natural or synthetic drugs that act like morphine.
