Subaru R1 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The R1 is a two-door version of the Subaru R2, but with a shorter body and wheelbase.
The R1 is unique in that it doesn't use up the maximum length allowed for by the keicar regulations - the last keicar to have done this was the 1989 Autozam Carol.
The R1 is only available in one spec level, with one engine: the DOHC 658 cm³ 16- valve AVCS engine is the middle child in the trio of engines for the R2.

Subaru 360 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
It was imported to the United States by Malcolm Bricklin, but the Subaru 360 received notoriety in 1969, when Consumer Reports magazine branded the automobile "Not Acceptable" (because of safety concerns and lack of power, this was before the fuel crisis.) and sales collapsed.
The Subaru 360 was replaced by the less popular but more advanced R-2 which was quickly superseded by the long-lived Subaru Rex model.
In the Subaru Jusmin from the 1991 Tokyo Motor Show, this was simply a yellowish paint color reminiscent of the 360's.

Subaru says of both cars: "neither are planned for Europe although market research studies are about to begin to gauge public reaction." Feedback from Geneva show-goers will play an important role in deciding whether these models will be offered here.

Subaru’s partnership with General Motors dates back to 1999, and the B9 Tribeca was thus co-developed with Saab, with the intention of fielding the
While Subaru’s first water-cooled boxer engine actually debuted in the front-wheel-drive 1000 in 1965, the all-wheel-drive Leone was its first successful vehicle in the U.S., uniquely appealing enough to have found 30,000 homes in the U.S. by 1974.
Subaru must hope to have accurately targeted and met those expectations, adding to them sufficiently to charge a premium price; bringing its loyal following with it, yet attracting a wider, more mainstream audience — and hoping that the two do not offend each other while the result presents itself as the brand's flagship.

The first-generation Subaru Legacy marked a philosophical change at Subaru when it was introduced in 1989.
Subaru played it safe by keeping the roofline design of the previous-generation Legacy while adopting various disparate styling cues from other Japanese sedans.
Subaru seems to have found the perfect styling balance with the WRX and the Outback: distinctive enough to capture an audience without being so unusual as to alienate buyers.

The latest R1 engine has been tilted five degrees further forward to 40 degrees from vertical; its bore and stroke have been further shortened to 77 x 53.6mm, shifting the power peak to a dizzy 12 500rpm.
The third-generation R1 has higher bars and lower footpegs than previous models — although it's still a pretty racy seating position — and the seat is rather better padded, making it quite a comfortable place to spend an exciting Sunday morning.
The third-generation R1 is a superbly usable tool — it has usable power down to walking pace and up to warp speed, it has usable ergonomics for riding in the traffic and the twisties, it has usable handling beyond the limits of most street riders (certainly beyond mine).

Neither car has been confirmed for European sale, though Subaru has been doing some market research, and will be gauging the reaction of the media and show-goers in Geneva before making a decision either way.
