The Gaulish name for this god is "Sucellos" (the good striker), and he is equalled by Greek, Etruscan and Roman Charon.
He is usually depicted with a great hammer and a dog by his side, and has a consort called Nantosuelta (either translated as "sun-warmed valley", or as "who makes the valley bloom", the second being suggestive of the Irish Bla/thnat, probably meaning "Little flower", and Welsh Blodeued "Flower-faced").
The dog which resides beside Sucellos usually could be an equivalent to the Greek Cerberos, the Hell-Hound.

The Religion of the Ancient Celts: Chapter III. The Gods of Gaul and the Continental Celts
This latter identification is supported by many who regard the god with the hammer as at once Taranis and Dispater, though it cannot be proved that the god with the hammer is Taranis.
On one inscription the hammer-god is called Sucellos; hence we may regard Taranis as a distinct deity, a thunder-god, equated with Juppiter, and possibly represented by the Taran of the Welsh tale of Kulhwych.
Various meanings have been assigned to "Sucellos," but it probably denotes the god's power of striking with the hammer.

The CLANS - WeAreCLANS   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-04)
Answer: Nantosuelto and Sucellos represent everything that the CLANS was intended to become.
We were inspired by the notion of a CLANS gathering by traditional Irish Festivals held at the hill of Tara when all clans would come together from all over the island to feast and celebrate the turning of the year.
The letters C and L very nearly stood for Canyon Lake, until our true founders Nantosuelto and Sucellos adopted Nancy and Steve and reminded us that personal individual control over the chosen paths of others usually ends in the dissipation of an otherwise functioning group of friends.
