McIntosh, a distinguished educator and advocate died January 3, 2001 at her home in Tyringham, Mass., at the age of 102.
In 1932, she married Rustin McIntosh, M.D., a pediatrician, who was Carpentier Professor of Pediatrics at Columbia University's College of Physicians and Surgeons, and who was later director of the New York Babies Hospital.
As president of Barnard until 1962, McIntosh oversaw a period of substantial growth in endowment and facilities, including the building of Lehman Hall, housing the Wolman Library, in 1959 and Reid Hall in 1961.

Sue Bassett Folawn states, "based on family tradition" and on interpretation of existing records, that Francis Bassett was the father of John, Thomas, William, and Eli Bassett.
Sue Folawn states that Eli was the "fortunate drawer" of land in Monroe County, Georgia in 1821 when he was living in Appling County, Georgia, according to the 1820 census.

Canadian trucker Paul C. McIntosh was cited for his truck being overwidth and overheight, not having required lights and shocks, and causing highway damage after his truck knocked down a footbridge over the Baltimore Beltway, leading to one death.
McIntosh and T.T.K. Transport Inc. might have to pick up the tab originally estimated at $275,000 to $300,000 for highway clearing and repairs, and the injured might still sue.
McIntosh can still go to court to contest the citations or explain what happened after entering a guilty plea.

Not content to see the CRA wither on the vine, the chairmen of three House subcommittees are encouraging their colleagues to familiarize themselves with it.
Representatives David McIntosh (R-Indiana), Sue Kelly (R-New York), and George Gekas (R-Pennsylvania) have written two letters this year to their GOP House colleagues, pointing out that a Resolution of Disapproval gives committee chairmen "a powerful trump card against agencies that abuse their delegated powers."
Saying the CRA "can help put Congress back in charge of the regulatory process," the three lawmakers announced a series of briefings aimed at informing members and their personal staffs about the value of the Act for addressing grievances from constituents.
