But since I was staying in the Zegg hotel, where the Sufis had been given accomodation, I was able to discover that following their three-hour 5 AM meditation, they went to bed again.

The founder of Junoon, South Asia’s best-selling rock band, Ahmad, 41, has been called the founder of “Sufi rock,” a style that blends the traditional qawwali music of the region’s Sufi shrines with guitar riffs that someone the likes of Led Zeppelin or Santana might play.
Ahmad’s approach to rock ’n’ roll has been compared to Bono, and his band’s to U2: Their lyrics aren’t about women or sex, but about greater matters of peace, health and healing.

Their last album, 'Ishq', generated a lot of criticism from fans and critics alike for its distinct abandonment of the sufi-rock genre and its obvious flirtation with a more filmi, mushy style.
They have been the pioneers when they started off with rock in the local scene, then not too familiar with even the R of it.

What the Spirit of Guidance is, can be further explained as follows: as in man there is a faculty for art, music, poetry and science, so in him is the faculty or spirit of guidance; it is better to call it spirit because it is the supreme faculty from which all the others originate.
This explains why the Sufi in his tolerance allows every one to have his own path, and does not compare the principles of others with his own, but allows freedom of thought to everyone, since he himself is a freethinker.
Religion, in the conception of a Sufi, is the path that leads man towards the attainment of his ideal, worldly as well as heavenly.
