Sugarcult - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Sugarcult is an American pop punk band of Santa Barbara, California formed in 1998.
Sugarcult released their 3rd album, Start Static in 2001 featuring the hit singles "Pretty Girl," "Bouncing Off The Walls" and "Stuck In America." After the release of "Start Static" fans began to notice the regular absences of Ben Davis behind the drum kit.
This album featured the MTV hits "Memory" (featured in Burnout 3 and NHL 2005) and "She's the Blade." Sugarcult successfully landed a spot on the Warped Tour 2004 main stage, and released Back to the Disaster, a live album, in 2005.

Sugarcult is quintessentially Californian, and the new album's 12 songs play out against the backdrop of California's beauty and ugliness, its romance and reality; documenting a physical and psychological journey that begins and ends at the edge of the Pacific.
Thus the seeds were sown that led Sugarcult on one tour after another - resulting in a rabid fanbase.

All groups deserve the chance to stretch their songwriting chops a bit, and Sugarcult do here, but they know their niche is in direct guitar chops and inclusionary lyrics.
In the end, after their dalliance with Being Serious, Sugarcult are thankfully more concerned with pleasing the crowd than making a statement.

Sugarcult are pissed at the world - most of the songs are about suburban alienation or romantic disasters - but they don’t ask you to destroy.
Prime among them is the album’s first single ‘Stuck In America,’ on which I noticed the vocals had reverted to their original “blowing up the neighborhood” line; I also noted that the group draped one of the amps with the Stars and Stripes, as if pre-compensating for the negative connotations of that otherwise great song.
