Suicide (band) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Suicide is a 1970s and '80s punk/post punk duo, composed of Alan Vega (vocals) and Martin Rev (synthesizers and drum machines).
Suicide emerged from the early punk scene in New York City with a reputation for ferocious and controversial live shows that occasionally led to riots and violence.
Suicide's albums and performances in the late 1970s and early 1980s are regarded as some of the most influential post punk recordings and helped shape the direction of indie rock, industrial music and dance music.

Suicide: The Second Album - review of Suicide's second album featuring Mr. Ray
Suicide took elements of artists like Kraftwerk, Can or The Velvet Underground, combined it with the energy of New York Dolls and Ramones and surfaced as one of the most innovative bands of their times.
Suicide made psychedelic music, but an urban psychedelic; they were not thinking about constellations and far away stars, they did "New York Blues" as Alan Vega said.
The Second Album by Suicide is as essential as its predecessor if want to get to know one of the most daring acts of modern rock history, or simply if you are open to enjoy a not so usual attitude towards music, NSYNC fans, please stay away.

 TrouserPress.com :: Suicide
Suicide (1977) is a nearly perfect relic of mid-'70s Manhattan attitudes, a portrait of society grinding down to self-destruction.
The rich layering of synthesizer effects — at least compared to the brute minimalism of Suicide — is close to the articulate electronic orchestration of the Ric Ocasek-produced Suicide album (also released in 1980).
Continuing Ric Ocasek's association with Suicide, the tall Car produced Vega's third solo album, which mostly abandons the simplicity of his early work in favor of propulsive keyboard-dominated drone-rock played by Ocasek and a variety of sidemen, including Ministry and the Cars' Greg Hawkes.

Live Like a Suicide - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Live Like a Suicide is a live - EP released by the American hard rock band Guns N' Roses in December 1986 on their own label, UZI Suicide.
In Brazil, there is a version of Live Like a Suicide that features all the G N' R Lies tracks.
Several sources, most notably Axl Rose himself, (describing the EP as "the most contrived piece of shit ever" in a magazine interview promoting Appetite for Destruction), say that the EP tracks were actually studio recordings, with over-dubbed live audience sound.

At long last Suicide's second LP has become available to the general public and it's value to you will depend on what you want out of pop music.
Suicide's first studio album was the highly acclaimed "First album", a somewhat cold and manic record which fired off a sonic assault of electronic noise and angst-ridden, morbid lyrics.
While it may be true that Suicide's first album is much more aggressive(and the live disc that comes with it further proves they were more 'violent' during this time period'), it doesn't take merit away from this, Suicide's second effort.

 Suicide: American Supreme (Blast First)
Legendary New York duo Suicide (Alan Vega and Martin Rev) are set to release a brand new album, their first for 10 years, on Mute's Blast First label on 28th October.
The album carries the distinctive Suicide sound, but is no retro package and is without doubt one of the finest albums of their long career.
Legendary, but somewhat forgotten, Suicide were slipping off the rock music map until late 1997 when Blast First invited the band reform to play live in London to coincide with a re-release of first two Suicide albums on the label.

Their second album, produced by The Cars' Ric Ocasek, was a sleeker, cleaner interpretation of their sound; in some ways as radical as it's predecessor.
Nevertheless, Suicide fell on hard times and, apart from the occasional gigs and 'comeback' albums, Vega and Rev went on to pursue very different solo careers, which I won't go into here, otherwise this post will go on for hours.
Last year Suicide released their fifth studio album "American Supreme" on Blast First and, as I can personally attest, were on top form for the accompanying tour.

American Supreme, Suicide's fifth studio album, is a record of experimentation and renovation to one of the most blindingly revolutionary beacons of '70s punk -- and nothing's been the same since.
Suicide were the complete antithesis of punk -- replete with a minimalist two members, a lone keyboard, sans drums or guitars -- yet completely vital to its existence and evolution as an innovative, nihilistic art form.
Suicide now seem like band struggling to find their true sonic spirit, like their indelible identity is lost in a whirlwind of mish-mashed ideas that range from one-dimensional house music to uncomfortable and self-conscious turntable cuts.

American Supreme is their first studio album in a decade and it comes during a year that's seen numerous aging punk outfits return to the studio.
Like Wire and ShelleyDevoto, Suicide have obviously lent an ear to what's been going on over the past few years and have allowed it to impact their own distinctive sound, rather than settling for simple nostalgia.
On this album Vega and Rev don't come up with anything as instantly memorable as "Cheree" (their malignant, mutated "Je t'aime") or as disturbing as "Frankie Teardrop" (possibly rock's scariest song) but it's still an accomplished release that attests to their enduringly unique sound and vision.

This is their second album (in terms of both order and greatness), but has an edge that few bands with guitars could create (note to self: there is not one guitar, bass, or 'standard' drum noise on this).
The thing is split into two Cd's: the first is the album proper, with the second being (probably) the darkest 3/4hour of your life...underproduced and bleak, man. It is a fascinating out-take from the early days, but the real magic lies on the other, friendlier, disc.

Perhaps not surprising given the fact that album has almost 20 songs on it and every single one is damn good.
With most of the 20+ songs clocking in under 2 minutes, it seemed the band was doing it for some sort of hardcore punk image, especially given the development of the songs of their debut.
