  Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL): Past Cochiti pueblo governor to speak on relations between labs and pueblos
In his talk, Suina will address implications that arise from the fact that the Laboratory and Pueblos have been rubbing elbows for more than 50 years and yet a formal relationship between the Laboratory and Pueblos was established only recently.
In 1992, Suina was presented with the One Who Made A Difference Award by the Human Rights Board of Albuquerque, and in 1998 he received the Award for Distinguished Service by the Five Sandoval Pueblos.
After the talk, Laboratory leaders are scheduled to meet with Suina for a roundtable discussion on relationships between the Laboratory and Pueblos.

Joseph Suina, associate professor, University of New Mexico College of Education, will receive the Faculty Acknowledgement Award from the UNM General Library on Thursday, Nov. 21, at 3 p.m.
Suina is an advocate of Native American education and has produced several published works addressing the education of Pueblo children.
Currently, Suina serves as a Tribal Council member for Cochiti Pueblo, Cochiti Community Development Corporation, University of California - Pueblo Indian Education Committee; a board member for the New Mexico Endowment for the Humanities and on the New Mexico Holocaust and Intolerance Museum board.

Vangie Suina is a full blooded Native American Indian, she was born in the mid-sixties into the Cochiti Pueblo.
Louise Suina, who is her mother, taught her all the fundamentals of working with pottery artforms, from mixing the clay to hand building the dolls using the ancient traditional hand coiling method, which has been passed down through several generations of their people.
Vangie is related to: Anthony Suina (husband), Dena Suina (sister-in-law), and Louise Suina (mother).
