Josef Suk (January 4, 1874 - May 29, 1935) was a Czech (Someone who composes music as a profession) composer and (Bowed stringed instrument that is the highest member of the violin family; this instrument has four strings and a hollow body and an unfretted fingerboard and is played with a bow) violinist.
Suk's early works show the influence of Dvorak and (German composer who developed the Romantic style of both lyrical and classical music (1833-1897)) Johannes Brahms, while later pieces use more extended (additional info and facts about harmonies) harmonies to create a more personal and complex style.
Suk was the grandfather of the violinist Josef Suk.

While still at the Prague Conservatory, he and three of his fellow students founded the Czech Quartet, of which Suk was second violinist.

Suk joined the faculty of the Prague Conservatory in 1922 and later became its rector.

He informs us himself that he was born at Thagaste (Tagaste; now Suk Arras), in proconsular Numidia, Nov. 13, 354; he died at Hippo Regius (just south of the modern Bona) Aug. 28, 430.
[Both Suk Arras and Bona are in the present Algeria, the first 60 m.
