  Sultan Azlan Shah - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Duli Yang Maha Mulia Paduka Seri Sultan Azlan Muhibbuddin Shah ibni Almarhum Sultan Yusuff Izzuddin Shah Ghafarullahu-Lah (born 1928 in Batu Gajah, Perak) was the ninth Yang di-Pertuan Agong (roughly equivalent to King) of Malaysia from April 26, 1989 to April 25, 1994, and Sultan of Perak.
Perhaps due to this unusual upbringing, then Raja Azlan Shah, who was educated at the Malay College Kuala Kangsar grew up to be a very intelligent young man. As he had elder brothers who outranked him in the order of succession, he was trained for the legal service.
Sultan Azlan Shah married a commoner from Penang, former teacher Bainun binti Mohamad Ali, who served as the first ever commoner Raja Permaisuri Agong.

Sultan Azlan Shah won’t seek re-election"
The Sultan of Perak sent a fax to the MHF office yesterday stating that he would not stand for election during the BGM on Dec 20.
Sultan Azlan Shah became the MHF president in 1981, taking over from Tun Hussein Onn, who was then the third Prime Minister of Malaysia.
Before the last election two years ago, the Sultan had indicated that he would not seek re-election but changed his mind at the last-minute and was returned unopposed as the president.

But if Sultan Azlan Shah truly believes that the issues raised by the media are irrelevant to the MHF, then it would appear that he cares little for justice.
It is true that while Sultan Azlan is a generally well-respected judge, since he ascended the Perak throne, he has become an unpopular parasite who cares for his own clan more than for the state of hockey.

Sultan Azlan Shah stepping down?"
MALAYSIAN Hockey Federation (MHF) president Sultan Azlan Shah is contemplating calling it a day, and the association are looking at amending the constitution to honour their long-serving member.
MHF will hold an Extraordinary General Meeting on July 17 in Kuala Lumpur, with an eye to amend their constitution and it is believed that among the amendments will be the creation of a Life President’s post for current president, Sultan Azlan Shah.
And while the MHF Legal Eagles draft a new constitution, the hockey circle is abuzz with claims that Sultan Azlan Shah will be stepping down before the MHF elections at the end of the year, hence, the creation of the Life President’s post to honour his contribution to the sport.
