	Zhonghua Minzu - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		Zhonghua Minzu (Traditional Chinese: 中華民族; Simplified Chinese: 中华民族; pinyin: Zhōnghuá Mínzú), is a Mandarin Chinese term that in modern China, describes a notion of a "Chinese nationality" transcending ethnic divisions- in other words, a civic "nationality" as opposed to an "ethnic" one, with a central loyalty to China as a whole.
		The boundaries of who is or is not a member of Zhonghua minzu have always been somewhat fuzzy and rather inconsistent and have changed from period to period.
		The roots of Zhonghua Minzu dates from the fact that China was the dominant political power in East Asia for several thousand years, and that during much of the period, the notion of "Chineseness" was defined more in civilizational and cultural terms than in racial ones.

	Chinese woman beaten to death
		Sun Zhonghua, from a farming family in Xiapu county near the provincial capital of Fuzhou, was taken away by birth-control officials from her home by daybreak on Wednesday, a relative told AFP by telephone.
		The officials told Sun, the mother of two boys aged 12 and 13, that she was to be taken to the birth-control clinic for sterilisation, a procedure they had previously been pressing her to submit herself to.
		During the anxious hours on Wednesday while Sun's relatives were waiting for news about her, they went to the police to report the birth-control officials' violent manner when taking her from her home.
