MovieFreak.com - Bloody Sunday DVD Review
To make this short, the civil rights movement was hurt or destroyed to a degree, the Paras did their job and won (without questioning it at this point), the NRA saw a lot more applications than ever before, and thirteen people were killed.
There are so many characters in the film that it is impossible to name or recognize them at this point, but it is best to acknowledge their presence and impact on the overall sense of the film.
Bloody Sunday’s transfer is a little dark thanks to the film’s visual style, but the presentation is very good overall.

 Bloody Sunday Review
Paul Greenglass, who both directed and scripted "Bloody Sunday," would porbably like to have filmed the events of one tragic day in January of 1972 but, actual film footage being absent, he did a remarkable job of creating a docu-drama of an occurrence which has been all but forgotten outside the borders of Northern Ireland.
"Bloody Sunday" assumes that members of the audience have at least a marginal knowledge of the troubles faced in that corner of the world, when two Irish counties were separated by agreement from the rest of that verdant land and remained attached to the mother country of Great Britain.
"Bloody Sunday" is a visceral drama with universal relevance, a warning to government forces today as then to act with restraint lest they be hoist with their own petard.

 Review of Sunday Trading Laws
The traditional Sunday, and what remains of it under current legislation, can be seen as an antidote to commercialism for individuals and for society as a whole.
We are concerned over the results of the Stephen Copsey case in the Court of Appeal (2005), where three judges reviewing tribunal decisions came to the conclusion that Stephen Copsey, who refused to work on Sunday, had not been unfairly dismissed.
Significantly, an NOP poll conducted on behalf of Keep Sunday Special in 2005 found that 75% of those interviewed would rather have reinstatement of a regular day off to spend with family and friends than to have shopping hours further extended.

 Bloody Sunday - Movie Review
If nothing else, the new film Bloody Sunday directed by Paul Greengrass (The Theory of Flight) should be able to get a sense of the tensions that arose that fateful day between Irish protesters and British paratroopers.
The hard-edged documentary approach, where dialogue is barely heard as the camera responds to the immediacy of the action around it, is craftily employed.
The situation is far more interesting than the details we learn about anyone in the film, and Greengrass could have gone further into it as a non-narrative, or as a restaging of the event that allows us to pick up Ivan Cooper and others in the crowd but doesn’t make the movie about them.

Judy Garland Database film review: "Every Sunday"   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-22)
Every Sunday (aka Every Sunday Afternoon) is generally considered to be both Judy's and Edna Mae Durbin's (she had not yet adopted the name Deanna) official film debut, though Judy had appeared in at least five films prior to this (one of which was an MGM film).
The best review, and by far the most extensive, I have ever read of this film was written by Mark Harris and published on his popular Judy List on August 13, 1997.
Every Sunday makes for a fine debut for the solo Garland Sister and helps her to establish what will be her screen persona for the next 15 years - the funny, cute, girl-next-door-that-really-knows-how-to-sell-a-song that she so rarely deviated from until ASIB and Warner Bros. changed her into her adult screen presence.

One Sunday morning Oliver leaves the homeless shelter in which he now spends his nights, embarks on one of his daily treks through the streets of Queens, and is accosted by Madeleine, who mistakes him for Matthew Delacorata, a famous film director.
Taken aback by the forcefulness of her belief that he really is Delacorta, Oliver chooses not to reveal his true identity to Madeleine.

 Sunday review - Bestival 2004
Sunday’s mission was to locate the Troll Kissing Seat (because we all love them really, don’t we?), but it was not to be.
Bestival was a lovely, relaxed and chilled festival with some of the usual trappings such as the beer tents, clothes stalls and fooderies, but much less in the way of crowds and bustle.
I am certain that Sunday Best and all those involved can build on this success and bring a festival with spirit to the Isle of Wight.

It is a very influential movie that made it clear from the opening minutes that Italian multi-talent Mario Bava was a force to be reckoned with, and now Image Entertainment has made this title available for DVD fans in its fully restored, uncut glory as part of their Mario Bava Collection.
The film stars the Queen Of Horror, Barbara Steele, in one of her most famous roles as Asa and Nadia Vajda, and much of the film’s mysticism can be attributed to her portrayal of this dark but enchanting character.
Image Entertainment is presenting "Black Sunday" on this DVD in its original uncut version, and there’s a story to this.

The rest of the tale is a dramatically forceful and visually riveting series of hauntings, possessions and murders as Asa seeks to claim the young body of her descendant, Katia.
Black Sunday's key shocks have lost none of their power: The resurrection of the scarred, eyeless Asa in her tomb; her incestuous brother Javutich rising from the grave; a ghostly carriage gliding through the moonlight on a satanic mission.
Black Sunday says on its box that it is presented in its original ratio of 1:66, and apparently it is. To do this in the 16:9 format, vertical fl bars at either side of the image are introduced.

Third Estate Sunday Review: DVD review: Nine to Five
Awhile back, when it was noted that we'd be reviewing Nine to Five as part of our lead up to the release of Jane Fonda's first film in fifteen years and her first comedy in twenty-five years, we got a few e-mails.
One reviewer huffily wrote (we're observing the Dorothy Parker rule of playground honor and not naming names) that anyone harrassing women like that would be immediately fired, that Mr.
Fonda seems to be carved up by the reviewers for being an actress committed to a role, one that some pulling out the knives didn't think was worthy of being recorded on film.

Sunday morning Columbia Journalism Review - Find Articles
It's noon on a Thursday morning in July and Richard DiBella, the supervising producer of Fox News Sunday, is laboring to lock in guests for the 9 A.M. Sunday show.
Each week, the producers of the five Sunday shows - Fox News Sunday, ABC's This Week, CBS's Face the Nation, NBC's Meet the Press, and CNN's Late Edition - vie for guests who can discuss, in an informed manner, whatever the two or three hot issues happen to be.
The producers must perform a delicate dance: if they book guests early in the week, they are less flexible to react to late-breaking news; if they hesitate too long, a rival show will beat them to the booking.

calendarlive.com: MOVIE REVIEW - 'Bloody Sunday'   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-22)
"Bloody Sunday's" narrative device retains its potency throughout the film: Everything is structured around cutting back and forth between two of Northern Ireland's perennial antagonists, the beleaguered British Army and the province's restive Catholic minority.
The Catholics, ironically led by their Protestant member of Parliament Ivan Cooper (an outstanding James Nesbitt), are holding a press conference restating their determination, as believers in peaceful protest in the Martin Luther King tradition, to march the next day for civil rights and against the British practice of internment without trial.
Fortified by internal logic and vocal supporters, the army and the Catholics are equally sure they are in the right, a situation that led to a fatal end.

dOc DVD Review: Black Sunday (1977)
Frankenheimer does indeed lay a strong foundation during the first 120 minutes or so, one that is properly serious and grim, but the payoff, the grand denouement, is built around a series of laughably bad process shots, inconsistently sized models and one of the most anti-climactic explosions I think I have ever seen.
Image Transfer Review: Black Sunday is presented in a fair-to-decent 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer, with a noticeable amount of light grain and moments of oversaturated color.

The result is Stone's best work in years, an exhilarating, chaotic film that manages to be both admiring and critical of the game that keeps fans glued to the TV every weekend.
The biggest surprise here, however, is NFL Hall-of-Fame great Lawrence Taylor, who is simply magnificent as (what else?) a veteran linebacker determined to play, despite life-threatening injuries, so that he can collect a million-dollar bonus.
At almost three hours long, Any Given Sunday starts to grow wearying about two-thirds of the way through, bogging down as character after character is given a chance to defend his/her point of view.

 DVD Review: Bloody Sunday
"Bloody Sunday" is an emotionally intense and very compelling movie that does a remarkable job of pulling the audience into a recreation of the events that's convincing to the point that the film feels more - I almost forgot it was a recreation at times - like newsreel footage than a feature film.
There are Domestic English and UK versions of the 5.1 track, but in comparisons between the two, I didn't hear much of a noticable difference.

The film also introduced the world to Barbara Steele, an actress who’s gothic fl hair and saucer-like dark eyes made her born to play umpteen evil temptress’ in various genre movies of variable quality for the rest of her career.
In fact Steele’s performance is easily the best in the movie; With the rest of the cast largely comprised of square-jawed rent-a-hero types, Steele’s eerie grace as she glides around the castle is as much an indelible image as anything in contemporary horror cinema.

Any Given Sunday Movie Review by Anthony Leong
With "Any Given Sunday", director Oliver Stone ("U-Turn") dissects the glory and decadence of football, as seen through the stunning victories and stinging defeats of the fictitious Miami Sharks.
"Any Given Sunday" starts off promisingly enough as an insightful commentary on the state of the sport, as Stone takes us through the ins-and-outs of professional football, from the snap decisions made on the field to the executive decisions made in the owner's office.
If "Any Given Sunday" were a web site, it would be loaded with bells and whistles, but saddled with the same content on every single page.
