Sunday Times Rich List - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Sunday Times Rich List is a list of the 1,000 most wealthy people or families in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, updated annually in April and published by British national Sunday newspaper The Sunday Times since 1989.
Thus the list at one time ranked Robert Maxwell above Rupert Murdoch, though the former was actually insolvent.
Analysis of social trends based on one year's list, or based on changes in the list from one year to another is for this reason necessarily based on very insecure foundations.

 Right Reason: A Bit Rich
The Rich List, as British readers know, is the annual list of the wealthiest people in the UK published by the Sunday Times: see here, here and here.
Anyway, those readers who do admire the people on the list don't admire them just because they're rich, but because they -- not counting the ones who inherited their wealth, or who stole it -- are rich because they were good at business, and produced or helped produce products that people wanted.
By touting this frozen image of wealth distribution, the false impression is created that "the poor" and "the rich" are a fixed set of names with social security numbers that think and act as a class, and occupy that class throughout their lives.
