		According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Joel Melody of Treasure Island was heading southbound in the northbound lanes of I-275 on the Skyway around 2 a.m.
		Troopers say the 25-year-old was involved in a hit-and-run accident in St. Petersburg prior to the Skyway crash, but did not immediately have any more information about that incident.
		Rescue and cleanup of the three-car scene forced troopers to close the northbound lanes of the Skyway for several hours, but it was back open by rush hour this morning.

		After the fatal accident, traffic was rerouted onto the two-lane northbound span, until the planning and completion of the new SUNSHINE BRIDGE which opened in April of 1987.

		Maggie May was riding in a car northbound over the Sunshine Skyway Bridge when a minor fender bender occurred, throwing her from the vehicle.
