Dave's Long Box: Guy Gardner vs Jim Shooter
Jim Shooter is a hero of mine not only for his contributuion to comics (both the industry and medium) but because he took time out of his own personal time to incourage me in my career as an artist.
I think having comics specialty shops as it currently stands is graually leading to the death of the industry and it makes the product less available and less saleable as it is less visible in the public eye.
Well, if comics were started to be frozen out of magazine stands because they were a pain to handle and didn't bring in enough revenue in that format, I wonder if perhaps a better solution instead of going to specialty shops would have been to simply abandon the pamphlet format and convert to full-size magazines.

Sunspot is Roberto da Costa, a Brazilian male, born and raised in Rio de Janeiro.
During this time Sunspot discovered that he could fly, got lost in the space-time continuum when he interfered with the teleportation powers of Locus, was tutored by Gideon of the Externals because they thought he was the next to join the group, and discovered the hideous villain Reignfire, who had a disturbing connection to him.

Sunspot research was dormant for much of the 17th and early 18th centuries because of the Maunder Minimum, during which no sunspots were visible for some years; but after the resumption of sunspot activity, Heinrich Schwabe in 1843 reported a periodic change in the number of sunspots.
Although the details of sunspot generation are still somewhat a matter of research, it is quite clear that sunspots are the visible counterparts of magnetic flux tubes in the convective zone of the sun that get "wound up" by differential rotation.
Sunspot -- A sunspot is a region on the Sun's surface (photosphere) that is marked by a lower temperature than its surroundings and intense magnetic activity.

Sun - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Sunspots are regions of intense magnetic activity where energy transport is inhibited by strong magnetic fields.
The number of sunspots visible on the Sun is not constant, but varies over a 10-12 year cycle known as the Solar cycle.
As the sunspot cycle progresses, the number of sunspots increases and they move closer to the equator of the Sun, a phenomenon described by Spörer's law.

Sunspot umbrae—the dark central regions of the spots—are surrounded by brighter filamentary penumbrae, the existence of which remains largely inexplicable1.
For the sunspot to exist, the total pressure must be in balance between the region inside and the region outside of the sunspot.
In the sunspot you have both gas pressure and magnetic field pressure combined." Since the pressure must be in balance, magnetic pressure inside the sunspot allows the gas pressure (and thus the temperature) to remain lower than the areas outside of the sunspot.

X-Force notably starred Cannonball and Sunspot from the original line-up of New Mutants, later joined by Danielle Moonstar, along with later-joining New Mutants such as Rictor, Warpath, Feral, Shatterstar, and Tabitha Smith as "Meltdown" instead of "Boom Boom").

It's the belief of several of my peers that the way forward, to attach the potential (as opposed to the actual present-day) audience for comics, is to do superheroes really well for a major corporation who can force them into the cultural spotlight and into new sales venues.
I still believe that it would be better to shore up the system we already have while looking for alternative ways of bringing comics to people, than to let the entire system collapse and start from scratch once the dust has settled (God knows how many years from now).
But we still need to clear away the majority of the 80 to 90% of all monthly comics publications that are in the superhero genre.

It`s diverting because there are some neat moments here; uneven because, like many of these comics anthologies, it`s often difficult to choose stories that can be read as singular narratives when they`ve been lifted from long, ongoing storylines.
In X-Men comics, life seems unusually high in distractions, many of them towering and dangerous and hurling things at you, so one imagines that the X-Men require a good mental scrubbing more than most.
