Super Monkey Ball - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Although practically this is virtually indistinguishable from actively moving the ball, it is revealed subtly in the general tilt of the camera when turning.
Perhaps most original of the three, Monkey Target is an accuracy game in which the monkey ball is launched off a large ramp and splits in half to form wings, which the player must guide over a large body of water to floating targets of varying point values.
Using sticky ball or magnet ball these become fairly easy to land on, but the ultimate challenge comes in landing on them without the use of any items, also known as "freeballing" it, or "dry pole-ing it".

First Impressions - Super Monkey Ball Deluxe /// Eurogamer
In terms of aesthetic changes between Super Monkey Balls 1 and 2 on the GameCube and the bigger, longer and curiously cheaper PS2 and Xbox compilation, Super Monkey Ball Deluxe, the absence of the word "Dole" from bananas and stage designs is seemingly the only major change.
Super Monkey Ball Deluxe has 300 of the tilt-maze stages to navigate - a figure that comprises the entirety of both Super Monkey Ball games (114 from game one, 140 from the sequel) and 46 new stages - as well as all the mini-games from both titles.
Super Monkey Ball Deluxe is even more rammed with the things, and SEGA's also refined the Challenge and Story modes (the latter having been added in SMB2) to encompass the whole array of levels.

Super Monkey Ball Touch & Roll Review for Nintendo DS at Gaming Horizon
Super Monkey Ball has always been a charismatic, youthful series that weaves together a colorful aesthetic with challenging design, and the portable version is no exception.
As the ball rolls on, your monkey will point themselves up, down, right, left, and diagonal variations thereof depending on which way their marble’s headed.
Despite a tricky control scheme that doesn’t hold much water as the difficulty pours on, Super Monkey Ball Touch and Roll is still a worthwhile title for fans of the series or those seeking a puzzle-based romp on the Nintendo DS.

Super Monkey Ball Deluxe for Xbox Review - Xbox Super Monkey Ball Deluxe Review
Super Monkey Ball may prove to be one of the last great gasps of creativity to emerge from Sega in recent history, and it certainly stood out at the launch of the GameCube.
Super Monkey Ball Deluxe presents the same story mode found in Super Monkey Ball 2, which tells the tale of AiAi, MeeMee, Baby, and GonGon, a quartet of monkeys who have to return all of the bananas to their village where they were stolen by the brutally insane Dr. Bad-Boon.
The biggest factor working against Super Monkey Ball Deluxe is the time between the original GameCube releases of the Super Monkey Ball games and their consolidated latter-day arrival on the Xbox and PlayStation 2.

GameSpy.com - Reviews: Super Dodge Ball Advance (GBA)
Dodge ball, the game with the big red ball, is now being banned at some schools for being too cruel.
Super Dodge Ball Advance has also included some new throws, dubbed "Super Throws." The fist of these attacks curves toward your victim, another shoots balls that will careen over the entire field taking out multiple opponents, and yet another that'll smack the same victim multiple times.
Despite the addition of the Super Throws, the game still basically boils down to you throwing the ball at an opponent and hoping he doesn't catch it (by pressing the catch button at the right time).

This tendency of balls to wander from the drop point is a reflection of their chaotic motion, a feature that they have in common with motion of the invisible molecules in a gas.
It is shown there that the initial horizontal velocity v, the radius a of the ball, and the initial angular velocity w are related by v = 0.4 w a in order for the ball to bounce elastically back and forth.

DailyGame Review: Super Monkey Ball 2 [GC]
If you’re unfamiliar with the original Super Monkey Ball, which launched with the GameCube in all three major territories, the game’s single-player experience was not unlike a mixture of Marble Madness and an old-school labyrinth game where you tilt the board to maneuver a ball around.
While the majority of the gameplay still consists of maneuvering your monkey with the analog stick to avoid falling off of narrow ledges, the single-player levels now brim with more interactivity and tables that are quite different from the original.
Like the original, Super Monkey Ball 2 lives and dies by the mini-game, and based on our review, it’s going to be around for a long time.

If Super Monkey Ball is any indication, it would appear that the developers at Amusement Vision share our penchant for putting primates into questionable situations.
Super Monkey Ball is nothing if not a simian torture simulation, as every single one of its numerous gameplay modes involves putting a monkey into a capsule and then sending the poor thing rolling into unspeakable perils.
The twist is that you don't control the monkey -- instead, you tilt the entire level to influence the direction that the ball rolls, much like in the classic (non-video) game Labyrinth.

IGN: Super Monkey Ball Jr. Review
Super Monkey Ball isn't exactly a new concept, as its main game is honestly just a 3D version of Marble Madness; players control one of four different monkeys as they wander around inside a ball.
The monkey inside the ball is honestly just the game's personality...he doesn't exactly do much during the action except walk, run, or rotate around inside the enclosed sphere.
In Super Monkey Ball Jr., Players don't actually control the ball, they physically manipulate the entire level with the controller, tilting the entire area to cause the monkey ball to roll down the hill.

Super Monkey Ball Touch & Roll Review - GamersHell.com
For those gamers who’ve never experienced Super Monkey Ball, the game mechanics are incredibly simple and devilishly addictive in nature: you control a clear on-screen ball that houses a cute monkey, and you direct said monkey to roll his or her ball through various obstacle-riddled environments and perilous platform levels.
Pressing the base of the ball will cause the Monkey Ball to slow and go backward, and obviously any implemented degree of touching on the sides of the 2D ball will incur sharp or shallow turns on the game screen.
The individual monkeys are fabulously voiced depending on your actions with the stylus and, for example, they whimper in cautionary fear if rolling on the edge of a drop, and scream in wild excitement when hurtling through chutes or down steep inclines, all of which will never cease to coax a smile from the player.

First Impressions - Super Monkey Ball: Touch & Roll // Nintendo DS /// Eurogamer
The touch-screen has a monkey ball graphic on it that acts like a kind of analog stick, your ball rolling faster the further toward the edge of the screen that you press the stylus tip.
The stylus control suffers from the same kind of analog zone issues I had with Super Mario 64 DS; the lack of tactile feedback means you have to keep glancing at the screen to make sure you're holding the stylus in the right place, and this splits your concentration.
Super Monkey Ball: Touch and Roll is due out across Europe in March 2006.

Super Monkey Ball Deluxe - Ferrago
Super Monkey Ball Deluxe is one of a dying breed of games that infects you as a player with the 'one more go' syndrome.
As late evening turns to early morning, after hours of play at the risk of suffering the seizure that gaming manuals always warn you of, you'll still be there telling yourself 'just one more go', determined as ever and blinking at the rate of once every twenty minutes.
All of this makes Super Monkey Ball Deluxe a game that is well worth its asking price for the single player game, let alone the addition of an ace multiplayer experience.

Planet GameCube Review: Super Monkey Ball 2   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-02)
Maybe you are unfamiliar with the original Super Monkey Ball, which launched with the GameCube in all three major territories (quite successfully for an arcade port I might add).
Many gamers found the Super Monkey Ball’s single player mode to be very challenging, especially in Expert mode, and this resulted in missing out on many of the later levels in the game because of the sheer intimidation and difficulty of the levels.
If you do connect, the ball will quickly roll into the outfield, where it will either go up a ramp (which equates to a homerun), go into one of the slots which surround the field (which can result in a base hit or an out), or get caught by one of the monkey fielders.
