When NFL owners awarded Super Bowl XLII to Glendale during their October 30, 2003 meeting in Chicago, Illinois, they rejected Washington because they preferred a warmer climate.

The Arizona Super Bowl XLII Host Committee has gained a handful of public sponsors, and is soliciting private businesses to become part of Arizona's second Super Bowl.
The fundraising goal for Super Bowl XLII is $13 million to $14 million, according to Debbie Wardrop, who was named the chief executive of the 2008 Host Committee in March.
