The National Rugby League is the result of a merger between the Australian Super League and the Australian Rugby League in 1998.
Rugby league in New Zealand is under the control of the New Zealand Rugby League, which runs the national competition, the Bartercard Cup and the national team, the Kiwis.
The two main rugby league competitions are the National Rugby League (in Australia and New Zealand) and the Super League (in Great Britain and France).

Super league was looked upon as a bad thing and i hated it too.
What happen was, after Super League gave their presentation to the ARL clubs, Ken Arthurson brought big KP in and he told the clubs he would personally sue the backsides off them if they interfered with his TV rights.
If the Super League War did not happen, the ARL could have only looked forward to was a piddle amount from Kerry Packer until the year 2000, because of the contract he signed with the ARL.

Rugby League World Cup history stretches back as far as 1954 when Great Britain came from behind to beat France 16-12, even Union's World Cup only came into existance in 1987.
Today Rugby League is growing all over the world, sadly it does this relatively on it's own with little help from the big league nations of Australia, Great Britain and New Zealand.
The selfishness in Rugby League must end, enough with the focus on club competitions and competition between only the big 3 nations, we need to show our great game on the world stage, if we want to have any hope of future growth and sponsorship.
