The Worlds Most Powerful Electric Supercharger
The heart of our electric supercharger is powered by a 12 volt lightweight motor that can push the electric supercharger fan to an impressive 24,500 rpm's in less than one second.
The increased airflow produced by the supercharger will be followed by an increase in fuel delivery supplied automatically by your vehicles Mass airflow sensor or fuel delivery system.
Jet Stream™ Electric Supercharger is capable of up to 750cfm of airflow and generates an even larger gain in horsepower do the the fact it is bringing much cooler air into the engine at a much higher rate.

Supercharger - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A supercharger (also known as a blower) is an air compressor used to compress air into the cylinders of an internal combustion engine.
Superchargers are generally the reason why tuned engines have a distinct high-pitched whine upon acceleration.
Supercharging is not confined to internal combustion engines — jet engines rely on supercharging as one of the main routes to thrust growth and improved fuel efficiency.

 Supercharger
Supercharger is on the right, where the factory airbox (containing the air filter) used to be.
As such, the vacuum in the intake manifold decreases because of the open throttle, and in the case of the supercharger, it is actually at pressure higher than atmospheric (with a 7psi boost, 22 psi vs. ~15 psi).
This vacuum is use to open the bypass valve on the Supercharger ductwork which connects the intake and discharge tubes together, allowing the pressure from the discharge to simply route around back to the intake.

 SuperchargersOnline.com :: Turbo vs. Supercharger
A supercharger is mounted to the engine and is driven by a pulley that is inline with the crank (or accessory) belt.
Superchargers are able to produce boost at a very low rpm, especially screw-type and roots type blowers.
While the supercharger is generally considered to be a better method of forced induction for most street and race vehicles, the turbo will always have its place in a more specialized market.

Used Superchargers - Home   (Site not responding. Last check: )
Most of the superchargers sold today are centrifugal-style superchargers, which are internal-compression superchargers, meaning they create the boost (compress the air) inside the supercharger head unit (blower) before discharging it into the engine's air intake.
Most street superchargers produce somewhere in the range of 6 to 9 psi, meaning they produce 6 to 9 additional pounds of pressure over the atmospheric pressure at that elevation (at sea level atmospheric pressure is 14.7 psi).
Centrifugal superchargers are basically belt-driven turbochargers (as opposed to exhaust-gas driven), with inlet air drawn to the center of the blower where the high impeller speed converts this air velocity into pressure.

Supercharger at opensource encyclopedia   (Site not responding. Last check: )
A supercharger is a gas compressor used to pump a fuel/air mixture, the charge, into the cylinders of an internal combustion engine.
It is similar in purpose to the closely related turbocharger, but differs in that the supercharger is powered by gearing (or belts) off the engine's crankshaft, while the turbocharger is powered by the pressure of exhaust gases driving a turbine.
Throughout WWII British superchargers generally had higher critical altitudes than their German counterparts, and when combined with higher octane fuels that allowed for higher boost levels, British engines were generally able to outperform German ones.

Starpath Supercharger - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Supercharger interface multiplied the Atari 2600's RAM 49-fold, from its meager built-in 128 bytes to 6,272 bytes, i.e.
By providing these capabilities, the Supercharger made the Atari 2600 much more like the low end home computers of the era, aside from the alphanumeric keyboard the console lacked (simple numeric keypads were available from Atari as add-ons, however).
With a small modification, the Supercharger can be used to easily test homebrew code for the Atari 2600 on a real system.

A supercharger (also known as a blower, a positive displacement pump or a centrifugal pump) is a gas compressor used to pump air into the cylinders of an internal combustion engine.
Whilst a turbocharger is powered by the mass-flow of exhaust gases driving a turbine, a supercharger is powered mechanically, by belt- or by chain-drive from the engine's crankshaft.
A supercharger may absorb as much as a third of the total crankshaft power of the engine, but at the same time may increase total engine output by over 100 percent.

Supercharger Overview - Tech - Sport Compact Car Magazine
Centrifugal superchargers are basically like the compressor side of a turbocharger, driven by a belt from the crankshaft through some sort of overdrive device, either a second belt drive or gears.
The mass flow rate of a centrifugal supercharger is roughly proportional to the square of the compressor's rotational speed.
The Wankel was used successfully, if not widely, as a supercharger before the focus changed to using it as an engine, and any surviving examples are most likely to be found either in a museum or slowly fading away in some German barn.

The reason for this is that the supercharger compresses the air to a high degree inside the supercharger and it decompresses as it enters the plenum.
It is said that the compression of the air occurs in the plenum after it leaves the supercharger in the modified roots type supercharger unlike the Lysholm where the air is compressed inside the blower and then decompresses as it leaves the blower and enters the plenum.
The supercharger uses straight cut gears in the nose drive and at idle there is no load on the gears that they tend to rattle back and forth a bit and that presents as a rattling sound.

This actually came to be because I found that the turbo from an '88 Isuzu Impulse would physically bolt on to my engine as they both share the same external engine block dimensions (though the turbo Impulse is 2.0l vs my 2.6l).
I had initially wanted a supercharger, but there were no kits available, the cost to put one on was prohibitive, and the turbo came along as a do-able and relative inexpensive option.
My second choice was an Eaton SC as it came on tens of thousands (if not more) factory Ford and GM cars, and with a little bit of research I've found the one I want.
