  Superfamily - Biography
Superfamily is a seven-piece rock band who is proud to say their roots lie in Moss - a small and foul smelling town in the South East of Norway.
Superfamily had become a complete rock band, but their stage show and lyrics were either (or both) to stupid or too smart to fit nicely into one genre.
Superfamily has now signed a record deal with Propeller Recordings (signed in a bathroom at the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Oslo), and their first EP is scheduled for release in the autumn of 2004, and the first album in September 2005.

This server does not attempt (at present) to distinguish between families within superfamilies, but is able to detect the broader and more distant relationships at the superfamily level.
Each sequence may well hit a superfamily more than once as there are several overlapping models for each superfamily, however it is the hit to the superfamily which is meaningful.
You may view sequences aligned to the models which represent a view of the superfamily although it may be biased towards the seed.

Mechanistic Diversity in a Metalloenzyme Superfamily   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-21)
It is now appreciated that the relationships of proteins, particularly enzymes, within a protein superfamily can be understood not only in terms of their sequence similarities and three-dimensional structures but also by chemical threads that relate their functional attributes.
The mechanistic ties among superfamily members can often be traced to a common transition state for the rate-limiting step of the reactions being catalyzed.
The remarkable access to mechanism space that is provided by the VOC superfamily appears to derive from a simple, pseudosymmetric structural fold that maximizes the catalytic versatility of the metal center.
