Sin embargo, en mayo de 1959 nos enteramos por boca de Supergirl que se llama Kara, que es hija del científico Zor-El y Allura y que rpoviene de una ciudad llamada Argo City, que salió despedida entera en un fragmento del planeta Krypton cuando éste estalló.
Aunque su deseo es vivir con su primo, éste considera que es mejor que permanezca en secreto mientras aprende a usar sus superpoderes y así, Kara adopta la personalidad secreta de Linda Lee, yendo a vivir a un orfanato de Midvale (Valleverde en la versión de Novaro).
DC COMICS, en su colección sobre ejemplares famosos de la Silver Age, volvió a reimprimir todo el cuaderno, si bien en un formato un poco más pequeño y con la portada diferente en el sentido del recuadro negro y logos que rodean a la imagen de la portada original que también aparece en la cubierta.

The mystery as to the identity of Sensor Girl was an ongoing plot line in the late 1980s, with many readers, and Brainiac 5 becoming convinced that she was Kara Zor-El.
This is why, in the early appearances of the character, she appears to have powers consistent with X-ray vision, heat vision, etc. It wasn't until [DC Comics president Jeanette] Khan insisted that Supergirl should remain dead (she was very firm on this at the time) that Paul came up with Plan B...

Mxyzptlk takes Zor-El and Allura at a point in time after they have sent Kara to Earth, but before they are sent into the Survival Zone, and that they are returned to that point in time and space after this story, believing they are doomed to die along with the citizens of Argo City.
Mxyzptlk gives Kara Superman's powers magically, plus invulnerability to Kryptonite, to "make a mere slip of a girl mightier than he!" Thus, Supergirl is not only able to perform super-feats, but she can save Superman from a Kryptonite deathtrap and Lesla-Lar's power-sapping machine no longer works on her.

This incredibly well-written series came to an end in the spring of 2003, and to close off the series, Supergirl's writer had her disappear from the public eye and go on another search for herself.

As opposed to characters that have NEVER been in the Legion (like Kara Zor-El III or Kal-El) or only had guest appearances in the background of Legion for years (like Laurel Kent).
IF they introduce a 31st century character who is a legacy of Superman or Supergirl, that's one thing, but It would be preferable to re-introduce Mon-el or Laurel Gand, first.
Laurel Kent be HER descendant perhaps instead of Kal's.

Laurel Gand, the real name of the character Andromeda from the comic book "Legion of Super-Heroes," was a replacement for Kara Zor-El, also known as Superman's cousin, Supergirl.
Being a laurEl type person I look back and in retrospect see how silly it was to be hanging onto my scematic briefcase for dear life.
"laurEl" stands out for its odd capitalization and for the fact that it doesn't have anything obvious to do with cryptography; perhaps it is a key string for the machine, or an index to a starting sequence in the pad of translation keys?
