Supersymmetry - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A possibility in some supersymmetric models is the existence of very heavy stable particles called WIMPs (weakly interacting massive particles), Sneutrinos or photinos which would interact very weakly with normal matter.
If the vacuum happens to be supersymmetric, this would mean superpartners would have the same mass, which is not what we observe.
If the Large Hadron Collider and other major particle physics experiments fail to detect supersymmetric partners or evidence of extra dimensions, many version of string theory which had predicted certain low mass superpartners to existing particles may need to be significantly revised.

For the supersymmetric, integral mind this is an omni-spiritual universe, similar to the spiritual universe of the symmetric, mythical mind suffused with self/ spirit and infused with life/ spirit.
For the supersymmetric, integral mind, this is an omni-centric and holomorphic universe, in contrast with theocentric/ anthropocentric and theomorphic/ anthropomorphic universe of the symmetric, mythical mind, or mechanocentric and mechanomorphic universe of asymmetric, rationalistic mind.
For the supersymmetric, integral mind, your self and my self are simultaneously selfsame and different, while both of our selves are integrant with and united in the universal Self of the cosmos.

Generally the name of a particle's supersymmetric partner is formed by adding an "s" to that particle's name.
The supersymmetric partner of the electron is called the selectron, that of the quark the squark.
The supersymmetric partner of a particle is of the opposite type along the boson/fermion axis.

Supersymmetry to the rescue? - 3   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-06)
A supersymmetric particle model consists of a collection of particle supermultiplets and a set of potentials that describe the interactions between the particles.
The particles predicted by the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model are all of the particles that are already observed in the Standard Model, plus one extra Higgs doublet, and the supersymmetry partners of those particles.
As was learned in the case of spontaneous symmetry breaking in the electroweak interactions, a theory can "have its symmetry cake and eat it too" by having a ground state that does not feature the full symmetry of the action.

Supersymmetric flavor changing neutral currents: exact amplitudes and phenomenological analysis (squark mass matrices) ...
I use the renormalization group equations to estimate these mass mixings in the MSSM and in non-minimal supersymmetric models in terms of a general parameterization of universal soft supersymmetry breaking.
In non-minimal supersymmetry, the $Ksb{L}-Ksb{S}$ mass difference in sensitive to such contributions from supersymmetric particles with masses up to 100 TeV (10 TeV for the $Bsb{L}-Bsb{S}$ mass difference), and the CP impurity parameter $epsilonsb{K}$ is sensitive to sparticle masses up to 1000 TeV.
I show that supersymmetric CP violation can be predominantly "superweak" (i.e., contribute mainly to $epsilonsb{K}$) or "milliweak" ($epsilonspprime$) depending on the chirality of the off-generational squark mass mixings.

We study constraints on the supersymmetric standard model from the updated electroweak precision measurements - the Z-pole experiments and the W-boson mass measurements.
We first study individual contribution from the four sectors of the model, the squarks, the sleptons, the supersymmetric fermions (charginos and neutralinos), and the supersymmetric Higgs bosons, to the universal oblique parameters, where the sum of individual contributions gives the total correction.
We then study the vertex/box corrections carefully when both the supersymmetric fermions (-inos) and the supersymmetric scalars (squarks and sleptons) are light, and find that no significant improvement over the SM fit is achieved.

 John M. Pierre's Dissertation - Introduction
One is that supersymmetric gauge theories arise as low energy effective descriptions of compactified string theories in limits where gravity decouples.
This was seen to be a generic phenomena in supersymmetric gauge theories and was subsequently applied to the resolution of conifold singularities by massless fl holes in string theory.
What has become clear is that by studying the seemingly disparate subjects of string theory, supergravity, and supersymmetric gauge theories we are uncovering aspects of a single underlying theory.

Supersymmetric Vacua   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-06)
In general supersymmetric sigma models, the Hamiltonian, 2H=Tr{Q,Q+}, is positive definite and so non-negative, and the lowest energy, =0, is achieved by states that are annihilated by the supersymmetry generators, Q, Q
Such states are relatively easy to find in simpler Landau-Ginzburg orbifolds and the corresponding gauged linear sigma models; in the general case, only their number and certain general features may be determined.
The supersymmetric vacua of the underlying world-sheet field theory corresponds to the light particles of the effective spacetime theory.

Physics News Update Number 265 - HAS A SUPERSYMMETRIC PARTICLE BEEN PRODUCED?
Just as all particles are believed to have antiparticle counterparts, so all known fermions (particles such as quarks and leptons with a half-integral intrinsic spin) are believed by some theorists to have hypothetical boson (particles with integral spins) counterparts, and vice versa.
The other paper (S. Ambrosanio et al.; contact Gordon Kane, University of Michigan, 313-764-4451) looks at the CDF event in detail, and suggests a scenario in which two "selectrons," supersymmetry counterparts of ordinary electrons, were created in the original collision.
Kane and his colleagues argue that if their assessment is correct, there might be more as- yet-unrecognized supersymmetry candidate events in the present CDF data sample, and that such events may turn up in scattering experiments at CERN's LEP collider, running at 160 GeV this coming summer.

Cosmological models in supergravity are shown to be governed by the covariant version of the Witten model of supersymmetric quantum mechanics.
Properties of the latter are investigated and the results are applied to homogeneous supersymmetric models derived from 4- and 11-dimensional supergravity.
In the first part of this text, covariant supersymmetric quantum mechanics of a point, propagating on a pseudo-Riemannian manifold of arbitrary dimension, is studied in an operator-based framework with emphasis on differential geometric methods and the theory of Dirac operators.

Iterative Supersymmetric Construction of Phase-Equivalent Potentials -- from Mathematica Information Center
Potentials providing the same phase shifts as a given potential, but possibly different bound spectra, are constructed by successive supersymmetric transformations.
Three situations are considered: suppression of several lowest bound states, addition of a number of bound states below the ground state, and no modification to the bound spectrum.
The method is illustrated by the Coulomb potential example, for which elementary analytical forms exist for the phase-equivalent potentials.

The next section discusses in more detail the current lower limit on the lightest neutralino—a mixture of the supersymmetric partners of the photon, Z boson, and neutral Higgs bosons, which is the best candidate for the LSP (9).
In addition to these supersymmetric particles per se, even the minimal supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model predicts a rich spectrum of Higgs bosons, with five physical states, of which the lightest must weigh less than about 150 GeV (10–15).
The sneutrino has essentially been excluded by LEP experiments and the underground searches for dark matter discussed later, and the gravitino is expected in many models to be heavier than the lightest neutralino χ, so attention has focused on the χ as the LSP (9).

This article is devoted to the systematic study of additional (non-isospectral) symmetries of constrained (reduced) supersymmetric integrable hierarchies of KP type--the so-called SKP{sub (R;M{sub B,MF)} models.
The second main result is the systematic construction of the full algebra of additional Virasoro symmetries of SKP{sub (R;M{sub B,MF)}} hierarchies, which requires nontrivial modifications of the Virasoro flows known from the general case of unconstrained Manin-Radul super-KP hierarchies (the latter flows do not define symmetries for constrained SKP{sub (R;M{sub B,MF)}} hierarchies).
As a third main result we provide systematic construction of the supersymmetric analogs of multi-component (matrix) KP hierarchies and show that the latter contain, among others, the supersymmetric version of the Davey-Stewartson system.

The reconstruction of fundamental parameters in supersymmetric theories requires the evolution to high scales, where the characteristic regularities in mechanisms of supersymmetry breaking become manifest.
We have studied a set of representative examples in this context: minimal supergravity and a left--right symmetric extension; gauge mediated supersymmetry breaking; and superstring effective field theories.
Through the evolution of the parameters from the electroweak scale the regularities in different scenarios at the high scales can be unravelled if precision analyses of the supersymmetric particle sector at e+ e- linear colliders are combined with analyses at the LHC.
