Air Andaman were running 4 flights a week to Surin, however for some reason they have suspended the service for a month (so they say) commencing last weekend.
I can recommend the big hotel in Surin, and the beer garden resteraunt thing they have in the carpark is good food.
Regarding the hotels in Surin, the two largest are the Thong Tarin (as mentioned by Mattnich) and the Petchkasem.
