The landscape is of rolling hills and woodland with areas of farmland and grazed downland.
Surrey, well at least this area, is not the built up commuter land that may well be envisaged by a first time visitor.
There are large tracts of forest, both pine plantations and more natural deciduous woods (Surrey is the most wooded county in the UK in terms of percentage of its area) and these are criss crossed by a vast maze of legal and not so legal bridleways and trails including plenty of singletrack.

The Surrey Hills is one of a family of 37 nationally important landscapes, protected by law to ensure their conservation and enhancement for the enjoyment of all.
The Surrey Hills Partnership is managed by a Joint Advisory Committee which is funded by the Countryside Agency, The National Trust, Surrey County Council and other local authorities.

Surrey Hills is a suburb of Melbourne, Australia, in the state of Victoria.
Surrey Hills's CBD of sorts is a 250 metre strip of shops along Union Road which features Surrey Hills railway station (on the Lilydale and Belgrave lines), five cafes, two bakers, two chemists, Neighbourhood Center, Community Bank, a post office and a large bottle shop.
To the north, Surrey Hills is also serviced by the 109 tram route which continues from Port Melbourne, on to Box Hill and in the south the 70 tram line which travels from the city to Wattle Park.

Much of Surrey is in the Green Belt and is rolling downland, the county's geology being dominated by the chalk hills of the North Downs.
In 705 Surrey was transferred from the Middle Saxon diocese of London to the West Saxon diocese of Winchester.
The new county of Surrey was reduced in size with the loss of areas in the north east bordering the City of London which became part of the new County of London and today form the London Boroughs of Lambeth, Southwark and Wandsworth.

Unfortunately Ben manages to persuade the others that a course over every single steep hill in Surrey would be the way forward and Surrey has a lot of the sods.
The first big hill is relatively short but feels vertical, I push up out of the saddle and feel my quads start to scream.
The hills didn’t stop for another four hours, but I kept a cheerful grin (albeit with gritted teeth) and by the time I pulled up in my driveway I had logged 80 miles in the saddle.

Spanning Surrey from east to west, the much-loved, much-used hills of this 'front line' AONB are a beleaguered green expanse which, together with the Green Belt, hold back London's advancing commuter sprawl.
The downs are paralleled to the south by an undulating wooded greensand ridge, rising at Leith Hill to southeast England's highest point (294m).
Much of the downland crest is owned by conservation bodies including the National Trust and there is a dense, heavily used network of public and recreational footpaths including the Greensand Way and the North Downs Way National Trail which runs from Farnham across the AONB and into Kent.

Surrey Park was formed in 1994 as a result of the Surrey Hills football club and the East Camberwell football club getting together and building a new club that incorporated the best bits from each of the former clubs.
The new club formed was Surrey Park competing in division two in the Southern Football League (SFL).
In its short time as a club Surrey Park has already won a division three reserves premiership in 1996 and a division two in 1999 and a thirds also won in 1999 and all teams are contenders for the flag in the new millennium.
