It helped that the "Marquesas" edition of "Survivor" turned out to be the best since the original — and that Dennis turned out to be not only a lovely, interesting person but a darn good player, as was clearly demonstrated by her second-place finish.
Which is why, sitting in Central Park watching the "Survivor: Marquesas" finale, I had to laugh when some silly people sitting behind me loudly opined that Neleh should have sacrificed herself so that Paschal wouldn't have been forced into a situation that resulted in his ouster.

I think the animosity towards Australian Survivor is not that we do not want to see it, but that Channel Nine's decision will cause us to miss out on the full Survivor: Marquesas experience.
It turns out the station producing the Australian version of the show also owns the rights to show the American version, and with Survivor 4 just around the corner, they don't want the U.S. version to steal the thunder away from their home-grown version, so they simply aren't going to show it.
As for Australian Survivor, at this point the quality and appeal of the series is unknown.
