		Susan has a lot of vague but fond memories of visiting her grandfather, playing the xylophone on someone's ribs must leave a lasting impression, as did the swing he built, which, in the usual fashion of Death misunderstanding human ideas, resulted in the trunk having to be removed in order for the swing to work.
		Grandfather, and granddaughter are reunited in The Hogfather, in this book she proves herself much like Granny Weatherwax in that the best way to get her to do something is to tell her that on no account should she do said thing.

		Pratchett focuses Thief of Time on them, with subplots carried by the underused character Susan Sto Helit and her grandfather.
		In the latter case, especially, Susan, who finally finds someone her equal, is pictured as the champion of traditional education techniques while the school's principal, Madam Frout, espouses more modern, touchy-feely techniques.

	Terry Pratchett: Thief of Time
		Although the Sweeper, Lu Tze, and his apprentice, Lobsang, are Pratchett's primary focus, there are also plotlines involving Death, as one of the Five Horsemen of the Apocalypse and his granddaughter, Susan Sto Helit, who he wants to stand in for him while he rallies the troops.
