Suspension of disbelief - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Suspension of disbelief is a willingness of a reader or viewer to suspend his or her critical faculties to the extent of ignoring minor inconsistencies so as to enjoy a work of fiction.
One of the most well known examples of suspension of disbelief is the acceptance that the iconic superhero, Superman, hides his identity from the world by simply donning a pair of glasses and acting in a "mild mannered" fashion, which contrasts with the large and in-charge personality of Superman.
The example of this is where the character addresses the audience directly (breaking the fourth wall) or otherwise engages with a glance or look or does or says something to show that the character realises that he is a character in a work of fiction.

Double wishbone suspension - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The suspension consists of a pair of upper and lower lateral arms, roughly horizontal, and of roughly similar length.
In front view the suspension is a 4 bar link, and it is easy to work out the camber gain (see camber angle) etc, for a given set of bush locations.
The advantage of a double wishbone suspension is that it is fairly easy to work out the effect of moving each joint, so you can tune the kinematics of the suspension easily.

Suspension of disbelief is an essential component in live theatre.
It is not uncommon for movie-going audiences to compare modern-day Hollywood blockbusters to movies made several decades ago and pronounce the former superior because the computer-generated special effects are more impressive than the effects used in the past, rather than accepting that at the time these movies were made such techniques were not available.

Suspensions, however, have been pretty much incorporated as they were engineered throughout the history of the twentieth century motorcycle.
Suspension systems have several functions that make a modern motorcycle much safer to ride than the bikes of the past, especially considering the speed that modern motorcycles are capable of.
This is sort of a combination of the telescopic fork with an arm, reminiscent of a hub center steered suspension arm, which controls the travel of the forks through a shock mounted to it and which mounts to the frame of the motorcycle.

A proposed suspension may be lessened or mitigated by the deciding official to a suspension of a lesser number of days or to a lesser penalty, such as a reprimand or oral admonishment, after taking into consideration employee's answer, the totality of the evidence, the potential for employee's rehabilitation, and other factors.

suspension, in chemistry, mixture of two substances, one of which is finely divided and dispersed in the other.
Common suspensions include sand in water, fine soot or dust in air, and droplets of oil in air.
Particles in a suspension are larger than those in colloids or solutions; they are visible under a microscope, and some can be seen with the naked eye.

Torsion beam suspension, also known as a torsion bar, is a vehicle suspension system.
One end of a long metal bar is attached firmly to the vehicle chassis; the opposite end has a lever, perpendicular to the bar, that is attached to the axle of a wheel.
A variation on this theme is often called a twist beam suspension, as is found on VW Golfs and other economy cars.

suspension (civil engineering) (system that connects a structure to its foundation, for example in earthquake protection)
Suspension is a form of punishment in which a privilege is taken away for a specified period of time.
Sports participants such as football players and Formula 1 drivers also endure suspensions for rule infringements, meaning they cannot take part in the sport until the suspension period is over.

CATHOLIC ENCYCLOPEDIA: Suspension (In Canon Law)
Suspension, in canon law, is usually defined as a censure by which a cleric is deprived, entirely or partially of the use of the power of orders, office, or benefice.
Suspension ex informata conscientia has the same effect as a formal suspension, but it is not inflicted by judicial sentence, but as an extraordinary remedy, without the canonical monitions being necessary, and it is imposed for occult but grave crimes.
The principal grounds on which suspension is incurred ipso facto in the present discipline of the Church are found in the Decrees of the Council of Trent and in the Constitution "Apostolicæ Sedis Moderationi", though a few others have been added.

As we review suspension system components and how they work together, remember that a vehicle in motion is more than wheels turning.
As the tire revolves, the suspension system is in a dynamic state of balance, continuously compensating and adjusting for changing driving conditions.
By controlling spring and suspension movement, components such as tie rods will operate within their design range and, while the vehicle is in motion, dynamic wheel alignment will be maintained.

The suspension lets the wheels move up and down to absorb small bumps while keeping the tires in contact with the ground for better control.
If the suspension were equipped with just a spring, it would bounce up and down several times after each bump.
When compressed by a bump, a suspension system needs a way to dissipate the energy that is stored in the spring.

 Late Model Mustang Suspension Basics
This suspension is compact, cheap to build and easy to service, but it is often criticized because (a) its geometry produces camber changes during vertical suspension movement and body roll that adversely affect handling and (b) the strut towers prevent designers from lowering the car's profile.
The performance of the front suspension can be improved by installing stiffer springs and struts and by replacing rubber bushings in several locations with less compliant urethane bushings.
Another approach is to install stiff springs and struts that limit the suspension's travel to a very narrow range in which camber change is insignificant.

DSP Suspension Design Software for Automobile Springs and Anti-Sway Bars
Suspension technology is highly confusing, and there's a reason for this: It is highly complex, and there is rarely any one "right" answer.
This suspension design software lets you take into account various characteristics of your car, such as corner weights, the suspension type, the suspension geometry, wheel widths and offsets, and wheelbase to intelligently select springs (coil, leaf, and torsion bar springs) and sway bars (also called swaybars, anti-sway bars, or anti-roll bars) that work together.
Here some of the most common suspension modifications are discussed, and the problems that each presents and how you can overcome them.

Usually the inner pivot point of the upper arm on the Mustang suspension is the one to be moved.
When deigning a brand new suspension system on the drawing board this determination is very easy to make, since the tie rods on the rack are actually designed to match the control arm and spindle radius.
When adapting an existing suspension design, such as the Mustang design, it is very important to keep every single mounting location and pivot point, including the rack, in their original designed places.
