For various reasons the idea was mooted that the Swedish Literary Society (Svenska Vitterhetssamfundet) could sponsor the edition.
Projekt Runeberg is included in "Länkskafferiet" (http://www.ub2.lu.se/skolverket/), a "virtual school library" which was commissioned by Skolverket and Svenska skoldatanätet.

There are today some 80 Nordic authors published within the framework of the Runeberg Project.
A completely different type of project is the electronic publishing of C.L.J Almqvist’s complete works, run by Svenska Vitterhetssamfundet (The Swedish Literary Society).
While the Runeberg Project is principally directed at the public and covers a broad range of texts, the Internet version of Almqvist’s work is a transference of a scientific project to a digital media specially directed at researchers, universities, upper secondary school pupils and students at residential colleges for adult education.
