		Inhabitants, youth and pupils from the Primary and Secondary school in Svrljig do not have the possibility to acquire the knowledge and skills in the area of information technology because of the lack of the necessary computer equipment.
		The CDC members, local community and municipality finance and perform the adaptation of the facility (which is located in the center of Svrljig in the Court building), the provision of office furniture, and organize the schedule for the IT centre for purposes of education, service and information of the local people.
		It would be also possible to organize and held different presentations needed by inhabitants of Svrljig as a seat of the Municipality.

		Upon arrival to Svrljig, Crown Prince Aleksandar was welcomed in front of the health food and medicinal herbs factory “Herbogal” by the president of municipality Mr.
		During today’s visit, HRH Crown Prince Aleksandar II called upon sports arena which is being constructed, and then went to kindergarten “Poletarac”, where a ceremony in his honor was organized.
		At the end of the visit, HRH Crown Prince Aleksandar II went to the monastery of Saint Archangel in Pirkovac, near Svrljig, where a ceremonial lunch was organized.

		Milićević, On Beliefs and Customs in Svrljig by Aleksa Vasiljević, as well as the record-ings of A. Vasiljević, D. Jovanović and Radivoj Agatonović published formerly in the journals Delo, Glasnik SUD and Bosanska vila.
		In the foreword, the author pointed out basic characteristics of this type of oral prose, having accepted its classification in legends (of places and persons) and tradition, where his definition of tradition differs to a certain extent as compared to other researchers and theoreticians that have dealt with this kind of literature.
		The recordings published in R. Radenković's book Legends and Tradition illustrate one genre of the traditional literature in the region of Svrljig and represent a valuable material for various further research to be carried out by different methodological, critical and scientific approaches.

	Dani evropske bastine
		A memorial fountain in the memory of the Svrljig rebels who used to protect Serbian borders aginst the Turks at the Gramada Saddle, will be opened there on September 11th, 2004, to mark the Opening Day of the European Heritage Days in Svrljig.
		The main activity is planned for September 14th, 2004, and this will be an excursion of the youth, students of all Svrljig schools, to St Arhangel Monastery.
		The monastery is situated close to the Popcica Village, and was a well known religious and educational centre known as Racinska Church, most probably constructed in the 15th century in Serbian-Morava style, and renovated in 1857.

		Dick Crum learned this dance in the early 1950s from villagers of the Svrljig area, just over the hill from the city of Niš in southeastern Serbia, and subsequently taught it to folk dancers in the United States.
		According to Dick Crum, though this unusual 11-measure dance appears to have recently fallen from the region's repetoire of dances, it adheres to the character of dances from the Svrljig area.
		Short lines (5 to 10 dancers) of mixed M and W holding belts in an "X" pos and R arm under, or with L hand on hip and R hand resting on neighbor's forearm in "Q" pos (as if being escorted).

		Dimitrovgrad was the commune with the lowest industrial salary in March - 1.262 dinars, in Lebane the average salary was 1.497 dinars and in Blace - 1.591 dinars, in Medvedja - 2.264 dinars, in Bosilegrad - 2.878 dinars, in Bela Palanka - 3.048 dinars, in Svrljig - 3.311 dinars etc.
		The average salaries in non-industry in March were betweeen 17.000 and 20.000, which means that for example in Dimitrovgrad, the salary in non-industry in March was as many as 16 times higher than the average industrial salary in the commune etc.

		St Olave’s School treated is pupils to a bit a real life slapstick in the shape of Design and Technology teacher Andy Cannons and Deputy Head Sheila Jackson volunteering to be dowsed in custard by a willing and sizable crowd of St Olave’s pupils.
		The school has been fund raising specifically for nursery-aged children in Svrljig, which is situated in eastern Serbia, 250km from Belgrade.
		The children of Svrljig do not have a playground and so the pupils of St Olave’s, organised by Andy Cannons, have collected donated Euros to help buy materials and outdoor play equipment for this community

		One of the planes downed by this SAM system was a French Mirage 2000 that crashed near Svrljig.
		The plane was downed between 3:43 and 4:30 in the morning on May 7, 1999.

	EU allocates €15 million for 15 Serbian towns
		Belgrade, Dec 2, 2003 - The European Union has set aside €15 million in aid of the development of local governments in 15 eastern Serbian municipalities, while the municipalities will contribute to the project with an additional EUR 3.3, according to a statement.
		The project encompasses the municipalities of Kladovo, Majdanpek, Negotin, Bor, Zajecar, Knjazevac, Sokobanja, Boljevac, Svrljig, Pirot, Babusnica, Bela Palanka, Dmitrovgrad, Vlasotince, and Crna Trava and will be managed by the European Agency for Reconstruction (EAR), the Serbian Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government, and the Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities, reads the statement.
		EAR Director Richard Zinc said the funds will help the 15 municipalities to tackle unemployment and economic problems.
