		For Ashutosh, "Swades" is a sort of litmus test, as this time expectations are high and moreover it is his first film without Aamir Khan, his onetime favourite.
		The USP of "Swades" is undoubtedly King Khan for whom the film is sort of a benchmark as he has to prove that he can churn out a blockbuster without the backing of the Chopras and Johars.
		The concept of "Swades" is that we are surrounded by issues, mainly social which we take for granted as though they are somebody else's problem.

		The music for Swades, much like Lagaan, is like listening to a drama play enfold track after track and the soul, thankfully, is all worth listening to.
		For once, and as rarely as it may happen in Bollywood, the music was composed without thinking of a genre of listeners, a stereotype (the masses or the classes), but simply of composing meaningful, soulful music.

		The story is pretty simple - boy leaves for the US of A to pursue a career, manages to live an Indian's American Dream, except that he feels guilty about leaving behind his almost-like-my-mother nanny, comes back to India, falls in love with idealistic girl and realises his country needs him.
		Swades is a movie that should be seen, preaching notwithstanding.
