The Swedish Army is an army of conscripts - every Swedish male from 18 to 47 years of age could be forced to serve in the armed forces, and until a few years ago most did.
The Swedish Army is formed from brigades - each infantry or tank regiment is responsible for the training of one brigade.

The Swedish military in Finland relied upon fort Sveaborg (outside Helsinki), considered to be one of the strongest fortifications in Europe at the time.
