		With any discussion of Swept Away, we don’t examine the question “is it bad?” The issue becomes “is it as bad as they say?” Honestly, no, it isn’t.
		Swept Away appears in an aspect ratio of approximately 1.85:1 on this single-sided, double-layered DVD; the image has been enhanced for 16X9 televisions.
		Swept Away seemed overly bright at times, but I felt these issues related to the original cinematography.

		With all the talk (mostly negative) about Guy Ritchie’s and Madonna’s vanity project, the remake of Swept Away, I just had to use this as an excuse to rent the original 1975 Italian film, directed by Lina Wertmuller.
		The man turns the tables on her on the island, and that involves forcing her into the role that he thinks women should play, based on what he has learned from his ideology.
		Swept Away is a powerful film in its own way, and is obviously a daring work, as troubling as it is. And it is troubling.

		Instead once away from the yacht he will gain superiority by use of his exaggerated masculinity, while at the end the 'real' Gennarino (as he deems it) is actually far less sophisticated than his political awareness suggests.
		Ultimately, what redeems a film veering towards the uncomfortable is not so much the tartness of Wertmüller's observations, but the moving presentation of a man and woman who, no matter what their class bias, can still find genuine emotional engagement in a fractious world.
