Fast Patrol Craft (PCF), also known as Swift boats, were small, shallow-draft vessels operated by the United States Navy for counterinsurgency (COIN) operations during the Vietnam War.
In latter half of 1967, 46 Mark II boats, with a modified deck house, were constructed, and between 1969 and 1972, 33 Mark IIIs, slightly larger than the Mark II, were built.
Swift boat teams have been sent to assist in Hurricane Katrina rescue efforts.
