The County class were the first and last heavy cruisers of the Royal Navy, being built in four sub-classes, that became known as the Kent, London, Norfolk and York classes.
Kirov, the lead ship of her class of battlecruisers, is one of the major and biggest surface warships of the Russian Navy, though it was originally built for the Soviet Navy.
In the years since the launch of USS Ticonderoga in 1981 the class has received a number of upgrades that have dramatically improved their capabilities for anti-submarine and land attack (using the Tomahawk missile), and today the name is not mis-applied at all.

The Victor III was the first class of Russian submarine to be built with this new mentality, armed with torpedoes, SUBROCs, and cruise missiles, they posed a more significant threat to NATO sea power.
The expected replacement of those classes is the Astute-class submarine, but delays have seen the expected launch of the first A class, HMS Astute, moved to 2009.

The main tube on the Swiftsure is the rapid fire tube, located on a rotatable platform in her torpedo turret on the ventral surface of the saucer.
These three classes are the most combat-capable in the Federation so it is no surprise that they carry so much armour, especially in the case of the Defiant which was one of the first to have the ablative armour fitted.
Unlike the Galaxy class, when separated, the engineering hull of the Swiftsure is not referred to as the Battle drive, as its combat capabilities are actually somewhat reduced by the removal of the saucer, which contains three of the Swiftsure’s torpedo tubes and a large number of the Type XII phaser arrays.

 Swiftsure Class Nuclear Fleet Submarines
The Swiftsure class submarines have a displacement in the region of 5,000 tonnes and are 82.9 metres long with a beam of 9.8 metres and a draught of 8.5 metres.
All six boats of the Swiftsure Class were based at Devonport as part of the Third Submarine Squadron, but have since been redeployed to Faslane where they form the First Submarine Squadron.
A second Swiftsure Class submarine, Spartan, was fitted with tomahawk during a refit at Rosyth which commenced in March 1999.

This is the third predreadnought battleship class produced by 1:700 scale by Combrig and it seems that every release is better than the previous one.

The destroyer type is represented by 8 Birmingham- Class ships of three modifications (D 86-92 and 108), transferred to the Navy during 1976-1983, and 4 Manchester- Class (D 95-98) built during 1983-1985.

Following extensive studies the replacement of the Swiftsure class with a totally new design was deemed to be necessary.
Meanwhile, the study into the Batch 2 Trafalgar class submarines continued and it became apparent that further development of the Trafalgar class was the way forward.
France has announced a new SSN programme, the new Baracuda class will enter service from 2010, but details are sketchy and apart from the fact that this new class will be larger than Rubis/Amethyste and smaller than Astute, little is known.

She was relieved by her sister ship HMS Swiftsure in October.
After refit she returned to the pacific as Flagship of Admiral Baird fro January 1885 to December 1888, again being relieved by HMS Swiftsure.
