Swing dancing is the broad term applied to a variety of lively, energetic street dances popular in the '20s and '30s.
The original types of swing dancing evolved from the lindy hop, which came out of Harlem in the 1920s and combined elements of traditional African and European dances.
Swing dancing has experienced periods of mainstream revival in years past, but there has always been a subculture dedicated to the art, willing to teach others.
