Swing is a partner dance, where the couple consists of a leader and follower, who share a connection.
Blues dancing is an informal type of swing dancing with no fixed patterns and a heavy focus on connection, sensuality and improvisation, often with strong body contact.
West Coast Swing is often danced with blues and rock and roll music, as well as to smooth and cool jazz.

The date of the first true swing out is unknown, but was probably some time between 1928 and 1935.
Counts 1, 2, 3, and 4 are identical to a normal swing out and counts 5, 6, 7, and 8 are identical to a reverse swing out.
The first four counts are the same as a swing out, but the right arm wraps around the follow further, perhaps to her hip.

Imperial Swing is danced to the same slow blues-flavored music as West Coast Swing and has the same sensual character but is not the same dance.
Whenever Debbie Ramsey, an LA instructor and swing champion, is in town she very pointedly makes a distinction between push, which emphasizes arms, turning, and complex patterns, and WCS, which is built on a few basic steps and relies on an occasional pattern and a lot of syncopated footwork for zip and style.

It is danced almost exclusively in closed dance position and most closely resembles a dance the natives of 1930’s Chicago called the “Shag”.
The man is the center of attention (sometimes lending the appellate “peacock dancing” to the Shag) and the woman’s steps are either mirror steps of the man’s or a sort of marking time while he does spins and other wildness.
It was danced to music (principally Swing) in fast duple meter ("8 to the bar") and was characterized especially by "breakaways" in which partners in a couple separated and improvised steps individually.

Swing dancing is a favorite American past time, and it recently experienced a resurgence in popularity throughout America.
This dance was one of the few dances in the world to evolve almost completely in one contained space.
Other dances that may have served as the precursors to swing were the Black Bottom, the Shim Shammy and Truckin', popular dance sequences of the time that appeared in popular nightclubs and in several Broadway musicals.

For Hustle counted 12and3, the most overlooked aspect is that the woman's part in hustle is not a rock step but a _coaster_step; that is, her last two steps are "close-forward," not the "back-replace" of a rock step.
Any hustle dance done by people who are not dance-studio trained, and are not doing NY Hustle in a recognizable manner.

First, it is a slotted dance, (which fits more couples on the dance floor.) Instead of starting on the "rock-step" associated with East Coast Swing, the partners move in the same direction on counts "1 and 2".
