  Coordinates (mathematics) Summary
In the polar coordinate system a single axis, or a polar axis, extends indefinitely from the origin, known in the polar coordinate system as the pole.
The cylindrical coordinate system is a three-dimensional polar coordinate system.
The spherical coordinate system is a three-dimensional polar coordinate system.

Time Supplement [Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy]
A reference system is a reference frame plus either a coordinate system or an atlas of coordinate systems placed by the analyst upon the space to uniquely name the points.
For 4-d spacetime obeying special relativity, a coordinate system is a grid of smooth timelike and spacelike curves on the spacetime that assigns to each point three space coordinate numbers and one time coordinate number.
Inertial frames can have global coordinate systems, but if we are working with general relativity where we cannot assume inertial frames, then the best we can do is to assign a coordinate system to a small region of spacetime where the laws of special relativity hold to a good approximation.

Swiss coordinate system - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Swiss coordinate system (or Swiss grid) is a geographic coordinate system used in Switzerland for maps and surveying by the Swiss Federal Office of Topography (Swisstopo).

Swiss trade unions are notable in that they are very enduring, stable organizations, universally recognized, and fully integrated into the political process.

swissinfo - New poll shows Swiss are critical of education system
The Swiss are more critical of their education system than a decade ago and expect reforms, according to a survey.
The results come as the Swiss prepare to vote later this month on a constitutional article calling on cantons to cooperate more closely on education and giving the federal authorities a bigger say in the running of the system.
More than half of Swiss asked believe that schools turn out too many students who are not prepared for the real world and most Swiss (around 70 per cent) say there is not enough discipline in schools.

 Using GPS with Topographic Maps
They may well mention 'other' coordinate systems but their thrust is for the most widely used one familiar to the mariner...
But these maps use the UTM coordinate system and, though a few cross-reference points to latitude and longitude are marked on the maps, it's difficult to correlate a latitude/longitude position with a position on the UTM map.
Basically it's a coordinate system with a 1,000 meter grid square overlaying a topographic map (which from my basic military training over 44 years ago was defined as "a graphical representation of a portion of the earth's surface").

CSS - Fonts as interpreted by Dennis G German
System fonts may only be set as a whole; that is, the font family, size, weight, style, etc. are all set at the same time. These values may then be altered individually if desired.
As for regular fonts, if, for a system font, any of the individual properties are not part of the operating system's available user preferences, those properties should be set to their initial values.

 BASIC Stamp: CORDIC math
The coordinates are first rotated by an angle of 45 degrees (tan H = +/- 1) the direction being counterclockwise if y>0 and clockwise if y<0.
While the y value is reduced to zero in the final coordinate system, the x value is, in the end, and after adjustment by a constant scale factor, equal to the length of the original vector, SQR(x^2+y^2).
In the calculation of the arctangent and length of the vector, it is the coordinate y that is minimized, while in the calculation of the sine and cosine, it is the difference between the given angle and the rotated angle that is minimized.

Geodetic coordinates (sometimes called geographic coordinates) are angular coordinates (longitude and latitude), closely related to spherical polar coordinates, and are defined relative to a particular Earth geodetic datum (described in Section 5.1.6).
Local coordinate systems are often used in CAD systems, and they can also be used in local surveys where the relationship between the surveyed site and the rest of the world is not important.

One, the celestial coordinate system, marks the positions of the stars on the sky.
For cataloguing the positions of stars, it is desirable to have a coordinate system fixed to the stars, where both coordinates are unchanging, rather than a system fixed to the observer, who is actually in motion because of the Earth's rotation.
This is a nuisance requiring a rather straightforward calculation when the coordinates of a star are needed for a certain night, but its position has been given on a map, or in a catalogue of positions, for a different time.

The Swiss, on the other hand, had a flair for the fashions that were desired by the rest of Europe and the world.
The Swiss made a very wide range of watches, from cheap junk to very high quality complicated watches, although few were as accurate as the English.
This became known as the "American System of Manufacturing." By the 1860s-1870s the American watch companies had proved that this system could make watches that were every bit as good as all but the best watches that were made by hand.
