AGH -- Swordquest Interview With Michael Rideout
The four parts of the Swordquest series were titled Earthworld, Fireworld, Waterworld, and Airworld.
The prizes for Swordquest were manufactured by the Franklin Mint, who are known to sell items that many would call "overpriced." The individual game prizes were valued at $25,000 and the grand prize at $50,000.
Remember that he kept the sword, which was made of white gold, and also that gold was dropping in price at that time.

The reason behind this is to show that you don't need to solve all the puzzles in order and to reset all the items for the next puzzle.
There is a small bug in the game which causes the walls of certain rooms to become invisible, but this is more of a nuisance than a hindrance.
It appears Atari finally learned from their earlier mistakes and started making the SwordQuest games the way they should have been from the very start.

The graphics were quite nice by 2600 standards, nothing was terribly difficult to master, nothing could kill you or take your stuff, and the little guy on screen went where you wanted him to go.
Those familiar with the SwordQuest games are no doubt screaming “You were supposed to look in the comic book and the numbers were page and panel numbers and there were hidden clues in the artwork!” Hang on, I’ll get to that in due time.
Since the game was mostly wandering through these rooms picking up and dropping objects at random, Angie soon lost interest, as did I. The four skill challenges provided me with a bit of distraction, but three were absurdly easy.

In the first chapter of the Swordquest adventure, your goal is to find the hidden clues and solve the puzzle that is supposed to allow you to reach the end of the quest and receive the Sword of Ultimate Sorcery (oooohhh!).
There were supposed to be 4 games for everyone to plod through, but only 3 made it out (Earthworld, Fireworld, Waterworld) before the big crash.
You could win $25,000 for completing each Swordquest game, and there was even a $50,000 prize set up for solving the puzzle that involved all 4 games, but Airworld was just too late....

I can remember the developers raving over it and how starkly different and interesting the play was, it was a dramatic departure from it's three predecessors, with an ending to shock even the most avid Swordquest gamers.
The intricacies of the game were never completed, however the game was fully functional from beginning to end, and nothing like what most people would believe to be a traditional Swordquest sequel.
The differences only started there, but it the whole design was to bring the entire swordquest series full circle in a dramatic conclusion.

 Swordquest EarthWorld Solution
We've had a lot of people ask for this, and after some research, I'm happy to say that we can come through for all of you.
Back in 1982, Atari launched their Swordquest Challenge, which would span four games and comic books that were included with the cartridges themselves.
The four worlds encompassing the quest came from ancient science, when earth, fire, water and air were though to be the four basic elements of the cosmos.

The SwordQuest series was a very heavily-hyped four-game saga which tried to break new ground in the adventure genre for the 2600 console.
If the SwordQuest series had been made in the 1990s, the manufacturers would've at least had the marketing acumen and sheer greed to release expensive strategy guides to go along with each one.

The game still looks blocky and there are tons of flickers on screen but you still get four different mazes and different difficulty settings too, plus it's a lot better than that awful Atari PacMan from 1982.
Unfortunately, the original Adventure was way better that this or any other SwordQuest game because of the poorly made map and bad use of the item system.
