Sydenham is the main station at the junction of Sydenham Road and Kirkdale and is 15 minutes from London Bridge with links to Charing Cross and the City.
This line was laid over the route of old Canal and was, for a brief Victorian time, an experimental' pneumatic railway powerecd by a vacuum created by the Forest Hill pumping stations.
Sydenham Hill is 'over the hill' on the toll road down to Dulwich College and Village.

Not quite right, Train Control for St Albans to Sydenham and beyond is under Freight Australia (Centrol).
The track is maintained to Sydenham by Thiess as part of the Bayside partnership.
Sydenham appears in the Bayside Working T/T "in preparation" for the extension of electrification in the next 18 months or whatever.

Sydenham Wells Park one of the finest parks in Lewisham recognised by winning the Green Flag Award (the national for parks and green spaces) for the third year.
The Sydenham Society meeting supported by myself to discuss the East London Line (ELL) on the 14 March was very well attended with Peter Green from Transport for London explaining the proposed routes and train times on the new ELL as well as trying to work with Southern on the London Bridge timetable.
I will continue to lobby to keep the loop line between London Bridge and Victoria as this is recognised as an important route for residents in Sydenham.

In 1884 the line was leased to a consortium of the five (six from 1885) companies using it, and on 1925-01-01 it was transferred to the Southern Railway (which had absorbed three of the six lessors), who immediately leased it back to the consortium.

With the continued development of the Sydenham area as part of the growth of the metropolitan area of Melbourne onto the northwest plains the character of that area has been dramatically changed by closer settlement and the need to provide services to a rapidly growing population.
For Sydenham however only the name remains and the small town that was only exists now in the memories of the families that remain within the area and in the one physical structure - the original Sydenham Station.
