The two symphonies performed on August 16, 2001 at Sydney Town Hall were Symphony No.3 (Mater Magma) by Ross Edwards followed by John Adams (Harmonium).
However, a more educated ear than my own critised the performance claiming it was more a cut and paste version of his previous symphony, though he did agree that Edwards used dynamic percussion as well as a beautiful and interesting use of light within the performance.
All in all, Edwards symphony was a beautiful and hypnotic symphony No.3, a pleasure to listen.
