		Sykes Warbler, Hippolais rama, which if confirmed is likely to be only the 4th British record for this central Asian breeding bird.
		Barred Warblers, Sylvia nisoria, are also not infrequent visitors here, the most recent record being on 30th September.
		Historically less than a score of Orkney records exist for sightings of Subalpine Warblers, Sylvia cantillans, and the appearance of a bird on 9th April this year became the earliest record in Scotland.

	Birdingpal news from around the world
		We were driving on the hard sand as it was easier than the road and we stopped several times to look at Rufus bush chat, Sykes's warbler, Southern grey shrike and Black-bellied sandgrouse.
		Along the trees in the riverbed, we saw lots Hume´s and Greenish Warblers (around 50), White- crowned Penduline Tit (Remiz coronatus) and Lesser Whitethroats (Sylvia curruca) probably migrating over the day.
		In the late afternoon we birded the city parks in Almaty, picking up Blyth's reed, Hume's and Greenish warblers, European greenfinch and Common rosefinch, Palm dove, 'hafizi' Nightingale, Masked wagtail (Motacilla (alba) personata), Eurasian sparrowhawk and a nice 'unwini' European nightjar which an obliging kid on a mountain bike knocked up out of the bushes.

	Hollywood Style
		Santa Barbara dancers Jonathan Bixby and Sylvia Sykes had the good fortune to study with Dean Collins while he was still alive and pass that on to us in their Smooth Style Lindy Hop series.
		Young dancers Erik and Sylvia Robison have rocked the world with their contemporary rendering of Hollywood Style, based on their study of the old film clips and a little something extra of their own.
		Lindy Hop has been danced in Southern California since the thirties, spurred on by the teaching and performance of Dean Collins.

	Swing Dance Styles
		The dance was "rediscovered" by Sylvia Sykes and Jonathan Bixby in the 1980's (the dance also benefited from the swing dance "revival" of the 1990's).
		While the dance that evolved from all this creative energy came to be known as the "Lindy Hop", it should be remembered that during this early development of Swing dancing, there were certainly many different styles of now unnamed and undocumented swing dance.
		Dance choreographers (to include Collins) would often replace the circular type movements of the Lindy Hop and Jitterbug with movement along a straight line or "slot" so they could place more couples on the floor without losing their faces to the camera.
