Two Roxbury men stabbed outside Boston Symphony Hall over the weekend are expected to survive the assault, police said yesterday.
One of the men was identified as Nathan Kinney, 22, by his mother, Linda Cashwell-Doe, who rushed to Symphony Hall on Saturday night after her son's girlfriend called her about the attack.
She said he had told her that he was going to a fast-food restaurant in the neighborhood with friends and had planned to visit his girlfriend, who works at Symphony Hall.

A double stabbing next to Symphony Hall last night left two men in critical condition and brought the city's continuing wave of violence to the scene of one of its most venerable holiday traditions, as festively dressed crowds emerged from a Holiday Pops concert to find waiting limousines and police tape blocking the stage door.
Harrington said workers inside Symphony Hall were questioned immediately after police arrived and homicide detectives were conducting a detailed search behind Symphony Hall and on St. Stephen Street, which was closed to traffic.
For most of the year, Boston has been on pace to eclipse last year's homicide total of 75, which was a 10-year-high.

The 2,689-seat Powell Symphony Hall is named for Walter S. Powell, a St. Louis shoe manufacturing executive whose widow, Helen Lamb Powell, made the Symphony Society beneficiary of a $1 million charitable trust.

Symphony Hall in Boston is renovating its stage floor, which will be ready before the Boston Symphony's season opens on September 29, reports The Boston Globe.
The Globe reports that Symphony Hall officials learned their lesson from Carnegie Hall's 1986 renovation, during which a layer of concrete was poured beneath the stage floor and never removed, damaging the acoustics.
The BSO will follow the example of historic European concert halls, such as the Musikverein in Vienna and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, which have successfully replaced their floors with wood similar to the original.
