Topic: Synergy (album)

  Synergy
Synergy is a tiny Cocoa application for Mac OS X 10.2 (and later) that puts three buttons to control iTunes in your menubar: previous track, next track, and play/pause; as well as providing you with visual feedback about the currently playing tune.
The Synergy controls, together with the ability to control iTunes via system-wide hot Key combinations, mean that Synergy provides the fastest way of skipping between songs when using the keyboard or the mouse; all this without having to switch to iTunes, or access its Dock menu.
The Synergy global menu provides you with quick access to recently played tracks and playlists, and the floater displays album covers and provides information whenever a new track starts playing.

The man behind Synergy is Larry Fast a native of New Jersey who was to have a far-reaching effect on the use of synthesizers in rock music during the seventies and eighties.
Soon after the release of the debut Synergy album Larry Fast was introduced to Peter Gabriel who at the time had just left Genesis to embark on a solo career and Larry was invited by Gabriel to help with the synthesizer work on Peter's series of self titled solo albums.
Semiconductor originally released in 1984 is a compilation and Synergy's work spread across a double CD and provides an excellent primer to the work of this artist who has been at the cutting edge of keyboard and synthesizer led rock music for almost thirty years.

I believe their previous album was something of a letdown, but Life on Other Planets was hailed as a return to form on its release, and it isn't difficult to see why.
The album is split into three fairly equal virtual 'sides' of material, making a future vinyl release a possibility, giving the CD more of a 'good old-fashioned record' feel than is usual these days.
