	Synthpop - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		These include the exploitation of artificiality (the synthesizers are not used to imitate acoustic instruments), the use of mechanical rhythms and "feel", the use of vocal arrangements as a counterpoint to the artificiality of the instruments, and the use of ostinato patterns as an effect.
		Synthpop song structures are generally the same as in "regular" pop music.
		Synthpop is sometimes confused with electropop, which is generally regarded to be a particular style of synthpop that incorporates the more robotic elements and feel of electro music.

		Theirs is a very commercial synthpop sound, something that often fails to impress but not this time; this is a fine effort, full of constantly engaging tracks with Muller proving himself a fine vocalist throughout.
		Synthpop can be a bit hit and miss but this is definately a hit as while Pleasures Remain don't so anything startlingly new or original what they do they know how to do well and that's good enough for me.
		I hope they'll do this more often in future as it would be a shame for such a talented band to limit themselves to what are, pretty much, musical impressions of another band thus endangering their longevity in the process, which is something I well believe could happen.

		A decade back, when I was a die-hard synthpop fanatic (yes, even more so than I am now), I only knew of one or two US based synthpop acts.
		As for stylistic differences, there are obviously some, but I don't think they are so important because the bands I work with make music in their own sound, and that's what I like about them, they have talent and their own identity rather than some kind of national signature.
		With more and more hungry synthpop bands popping up all over the world in general and the US in particular, it seems the future of synthpop will continue as it has ever since it vanished from the spotlight in the eighties.

		NCS is a rarity among synthpop bands that seems to be able to give their songs a sensual sound while maintaining a danceable rhythm.

		They played a happy and naive sort of synthpop, like their hit single "Just Can't Get Enough" in 1981, until Vince Clarke left the band to form Yazoo (called Yaz in North America) and later Erasure.
		In 1986 the status of synthpop was weakened and since then only music that is very much based upon synthesizers is called synthpop.

		My absolute favourite is "Reasons" because it shows Dan's skill to produce very danceable modern SynthPoP based on early 80s electronic sounds.
		On the whole "Earth Rising" is an exciting release; because it delivers varied tracks of classic SynthPoP to FuturePoP and breaks the prejudice that music based on 80s sounds has to sound old-fashioned.
		With his selection of synthetics he successfully creates authentic wave-music and his compositions are in keeping with the original feel of the beginnings of SynthPoP.

		As far as this site is concerned, I've actually decided to try and re-dedicate myself to making this a good resource for synthpop music rather than the stagnant site it's been for the past few years.
		Well, I've been kicking around the idea for quite some time, but it was actually an experience I had at the Erasure concert that really motivated me to resurrect the site.
		I was standing in line outside the venue when someone came up to me and asked me if I "was the guy that had the synthpop page." Apparently he recognized me from the picture on the site.
