  The County of Bialogard
The County of Bialogard is one of the twenty counties making up the Province of West Pomerania.It is located on the Bialogard Plain between two geographic regions: the SLowinski Coastland and the Drawsko Lake District on the Parseta River, in the northeastern part of the Province.
In the County of Bialogard there are important junctions of road and railway routes from Szczecin to Gdansk and from Poznan to Kolobrzeg.
The County of Bialogard is attractive for foreign investors who are mostly engaged in the processing and manufacture of wood as well as in farming and food processing.

According to the archaeologists the Białogard stronghold was built in the fork of Parsęta and Leśnica rivers as early as 8th century.
In 1724 Białogard was made the capital of a county in the Pomeranian Province of the Prussian state, and after the administration reorganization in 1815, the capital county in Koszalin Dictrict(Hinterpommern) of Pomerania.
As a result of WWII Białogard fell to Poland in 1945 and was made a county city in the Szczecin Voivodship, later Koszalin Voivodship, and now it is located in Western Pomeranian Voivodship.

Koszalin is also a county-status city and capital of Koszalin County of West Pomeranian Voivodship since 1999, previously capital of Koszalin Voivodship (1950-1998).
After the extinction of the last Pomeranian duke (1637) Koszalin was inherited by their cousin Ernest Boguslaw de Croy, and next it fell to Brandenburg.
In these years it was considered to be the capital of the Duchy of Cassubia and later divided into Koszalin county, Kołobrzeg county, Bialogard county and Szczecinek county.

The Drawsko County in its present shape arose as a result of uniting four communes of mixed municipal and rural characteristics: Czaplinek, Drawsko Pomorskie, Kalisz Pomorski, Zlocieniec, and of two rural communes: Ostrowice and Wierzchowo.
In the Drawsko County there are many lakes, the area is also crossed by many small rivers and other watercourses of natural origin which, however, do not endanger the land with floods.

We made many contacts, now friends with the people of Szczecinek, a country that was communism up until 1989, now under a capitalist government has come a long way, so Poland has not come into the European structure with empty hands, it took 15 years in building a free, democratic and independent country.
However the Galway County Council are still looking at having locked bins of some sort to be placed at the Innishnee cross roads, this has been an on going problem re dumping at the bridge for some time, at least at last it is being looked at.

The oldest record known is from Johann Gottlieb Bratz, born 1778 in Gross-Kuedde (now Gwada Wielke), county of Neustettin/Pomerania (now Szczecinek, in Poland).
This ancestor has only one "a", but Agatha Roehnke nee Braatz, born 1822 in the same Gross-Kuedde and her siblings Friedrich and Mathilde have two "a"s.

My gr-grandmother, Amelia (Emelie) Henning came from Barwalde which is now Barwice, Szczecinek County, Zachodniopomorskie Province with her daughter and son and landed in NY, USA in April of 1889.
